I know you have had one of those days. The kind where everything seems to go wrong or you just cannot believe that just happened. The kind of days that make you want to punch babies. Hard.

Well, on days like those, it is always best to know that someone else’s day was worse. Way worse.

And that is what makes fmylife so ridiculously amazing.
It is a website that compiles people’s horrible stories about their embarrassing, hilarious and sometimes just plain awful experiences on a certain day causing them to say…you guessed it…fmylife.

I admit that I have spent entirely too much time on this site laughing so hard I scare innocent bystanders. Try it. You’ll be addicted.

Comic Con 2009

comicconpressI know I made mention of this in my old blog, but I figured since it is only 4 months away (!!!!) I could bring it up again here on my new pretty spot. This year, I will be attending Comic-Con International in San Diego to celebrate my 2_ birthday! I cannot be more excited for anything. Ever.

For those of you who are not familiar with Comic Con, it is ultimately a comic book convention that turned into so much more. It’s now probably one of the biggest pop culture events in the US housing all sorts of toys, art, and games along with plenty of appearances from celebrities that feed into the geek culture. Basically, it’s like Disney World for nerds. And it is fun. And we are going. And I’m so excited. Because, yes people, I am a nerd.

Snuggie Revolution

apparel-snuggie-sleeve-blanket-burgundy

Quite possibly the two most amazing things ever happened to me last night and they all revolved around the infamous blanket with sleeves: the Snuggie.

While out at a new club with some girlfriends, I noticed there was a woman sitting in the corner of a couch wearing a red snuggie. No joke. This chick was at a club (on South Beach no less) wrapped up in a freaking snuggie. Best part is she never took it off the entire night. This was such a momentous occasion that I had to tweet about it. And tweet I did.

On my way home, I was checking my Twitter (FYI, please don’t tweet and drive) and amongst some hilarious replies from friends, I received one in particular that literally made me laugh out loud:

SnuggieSighting: @mrszero get a picture and send to SnuggieSightings.com please

Seriously? Oh yes, it is serious.
So serious that apparently Snuggie Sighting has its own blog where they post among other things…get ready for it…Snuggie pub crawls. Yes, they exist. What I want to know is….how can we host one?

It’s a Snuggie world, people. We just live in it.

Who Watches the Watchmen?

Well…I do!

A group of us (9 to be exact) went Saturday night to the Aventura theater to watch Watchmen in one of their IMAX theaters. I had the pleasure of reading the comic before sitting down to watch the movie, and I am so glad I did. My first opinion of the movie was that someone who did not read the comic would probably not understand it or hate it altogether because it did a great job replicating the comic, which tended to be a bit disjointed. With that said, I absolutely loved it. I thought it did the comic great justice and really nailed a lot of the main characters, especially Rorschach. Some scenes were panel-perfect and a lot of the dialogue stayed true to the original. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a lot of scenes I thought would be omitted were not and I was very happy with the intro – overall, I give it two thumbs up and would love to see it again, 3 hours and all!

But, I had some gripes although few (warning: SPOILERS under cut):

The Twitterverse

On my old blog, I did a very quick post about my participation on the social networking site, Twitter, but I think it has definitely blown up since then and needs further attention. ;)

I’m a huge fan of social networking (obviously) and Twitter has drastically morphed since the first day I joined a couple of years ago (I deleted my account because literally no one I knew was on it). I rejoined last year and have loved watching it become the mecca of information and interaction that it is today.

One of my favorite aspects? The influx of celebrities that have taken over Twitter and realized its potential to further connect them to their fans. There is something about reading “I just pooped” coming from one of your favorite musicians to make you realize that yes, we are all human.

One of my favorite shows, Heroes, has definitely taken it to the next level. Cast  member and general mind-reader extraordinaire, Greg Grunberg, heads up this band of merry Twits often updating with pictures from the set, ranch-loving tales or the random YOWZA! His cohorts include other cast members, makeup artists, writers and prop masters just to name a few. Thanks to the constant tweets, the show has been able to get direct feedback after each episode from its legions of fans. The best part? They interact right back with you! It’s a great time to be a fan, people. Even the LA Times agree.

Are you curious as to which famous faces I follow? Wonder no longer.

Lovable Friday!

1. Twilight Shirts

All of you know by now (thanks to last week’s Lovable Friday post) that I’m a Twilight fan and although I do play the part of crazy fangirl, I don’t like the cheese that comes along with it. When I fangirl, I like to do so with class and these shirts from Spreadshop do the trick and then some! Their simple listing of names for each “family” whether it be the Cullen’s, Quileute’s or Volturi are a pretty immediate indicator as to your “team” when it comes to the Twilight series. They don’t stop at families either. More of a fan of emotionally complex love triangles? Check out their Bella&Jacob&Edward shirt. Which one am I picking up? The Cullen family, of course.

Lovable Friday

lovablefridayI was brainstorming for a Friday blog post topic, when I realized how much I love Friday’s: the end of the work week, the beginning of the weekend. The feeling of relief when you wake up in the morning and realize Saturday & Sunday are upon you and the fun is just about to begin. Because of all these great feelings associated with Friday’s, I figured my blog post had to be just as lovable, exciting and fun. And then it came to me.

Lovable Friday! Why not make a post every Friday dedicated to the things I love that particular week. From people to accessories to blog posts to movies to albums. Things that would help the weekend start right: with a smile.

Let’s begin!

A-Heroes-ing

So what if I have a preference? ;)
Last night was the premiere of Heroes Volume 4 & I loved every second of it. OK, well maybe not when the words “to be continued” appeared on the screen, but every other moment was great. I know it was basically a “set up” episode so not a lot of action really happened, but I can’t wait to see the way this volume
plays out.

There have been rumors that due to huge rating drops, Heroes may not be on the air after Volume 4 if those ratings don’t increase in the next few months so if you are a fan or even teetering on fandom – please watch! Let’s help Heroes stay on the air or I don’t know what will become of my Monday nights.

What do you guys think? Still a fan? Think the show sucks now? Think I’m a delusional fangirl? Leave me some comment love, whatever it may be!

LOST | Season 5 Premiere

So last night was our LOST party and as expected, we had a great time being a bunch of nerds together. The polar bear was a big hit and got a lot of love throughout the night by our guests, there was a special appearance by the infamous snuggie and everyone enjoyed their Dharma beverages. Unfortunately, the weather was uncharacteristically freezing so the ringlight photoshoot was a no-go. I did manage to brave the cold long enough at the end of the night to get a few good Dharma propaganda shots!

LOSTies Rejoice!

2539964756_f82a8b994c
Taken @ the end of last year’s LOST party.

After what seems like years (but in actuality was only 8 months), LOST will finally be back with its 5th season. I am extremely proud to have been a Lostie from even before day one. I am one of the few that can boast that I saw the series premiere of LOST several months before it aired to the public at San Diego’s Comic Con International. And not only that, but I got to watch it along with several members of the cast & be present during a Q & A panel. Super cool, right? Right.

I have been hooked ever since. Sure, the show has had its share of low points, but I have always been a steady fan. I really believe that no other show out there right now can bring the same intelligence and creativity that LOST does. It is a rare breed.

So it’s no surprise that for the past 3 years or so we have hosted LOST viewing parties for both the season premieres and finales. Tonight is no different! We are actually hosting our largest LOST party to date with (I believe) 13 guests! The party planner in me cannot just lay out the chips and dip and provide the couch and TV…I go all out in true Melificent fashion. I bought
a stuffed polar bear and have clothed all our drinks with appropriate Dharma labels. Plus, we’ll be having a LOST themed ringlight photo shoot to boot!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a full update with my thoughts on the opener as well as party details, but for now enjoy this fun time lapse video of me putting together all the labels while watching last night’s awesome episode of Fringe (best is at 2:34 when I become caught up in the show & do my classic OMGZ!!!! face). Yes, this totally made me realize that J.J. Abrams owns me. I am aware.
