Lovable Friday {Potter Edition}!

Today’s Lovable Friday is a little more…lovable. Today marks the premiere of the last installation of Harry Potter films. Today, it’s over. It’s all over. After all the years of amazing storytelling, and equally amazing movies, it feels like the end of an era. After all, it is. Although all us Potter fans know how the story finally ends, there is still something so nerve wracking about sitting down to watch it replay before our eyes. I am so upset to say that I will not be watching it tonight (tickets went on sale for our local 21+ theater when I was a million feet above air), but rather Monday, so I hope not to hear too many spoiling reviews (ha, who am I kidding?). It is also the first time I see a Potter flick without a group of faithful Muggles. It will just be the hubs and I, which usually would be OK, except I am fairly certain I will be bawling my eyes out hysterically in a theater full of strangers. Better bring my own pack of tissues then and start practicing blaming a steady stream of tears on environmental allergies!

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful world with us, Ms. Rowling. You have brought a little piece of magic to each and every one of our lives.

1. Harry Potter Pencils

I’m a sucker for personalized pencils. Add Potter-ness to that, and I’m sold. Unfortunately, I don’t know if these are real, or if the image was photoshopped. Either way, it’s a wonderful idea for a themed Potter party or a fabulous gift idea for the Potterphile in your life.

Happy Hump Day: Elijah Wood

Sound the alarms, readers! I had not yet featured Elijah Wood on hump day! I know, I am pretty disappointed in myself. I know FX’s Wilfred just started last week (I hope you all watched – it was hilarious), and his role as Frodo will forever be remembered, but my love affair with Mr. Wood started way back. Namely, when I was a tween. Whenever I had a sick day, my mom always knew to bring me home an Elijah Wood movie home from Blockbuster. He then professed his love for The Smashing Pumpkins – my favorite band. And then came Lord of the Rings, my first true nerdy fandom. And it was basically sealed. I’m pretty sure we are destined to be BFF’s, so if you are out there, El Wood, let’s throw back some beers, take some lomo shots, and catch a secret Pumpkins show. Oh, and cuddle.

ps; whoever can state who took the picture above wins Melificent brownie points!

Happy Hump Day: Michael Fassbender

So ladies, I hear you all a-twitter about Mr. Fassbender. Although I was more of a Charles Xavier kind of girl myself, I can see the draw of the good, but tortured boy gone bad. He was absolutely wonderful as Magneto, no doubt about it, and there is most certainly something attractive about him, but I just can’t get into him (har har) for some reason (I think I just don’t like his smile). But plenty of you girls can, and he’s got some really great photos to choose from on the Tumblr’s, so I decided to feature him this week! You can definitely never say that I only think of myself, now can you? ;)

Lovable Friday!

1. Scalloped Purse

Scallops have once again melted my heart. This clutch is just all sorts of wonderful. Between the color, the fabric and the little gold tassle, my heart has hit girly overload. I must have it. Unfortunately, it is $100. Oh Top Shop, you vile wench. I shall have my way with you in November!

Happy Hump Day: Heath Ledger

I’ll never forget how I felt when I found out about Heath Ledger’s passing. I was sitting at my desk at work not exactly working when I saw the news on a message board. I actually found it difficult to breathe and felt sick. It was strange to me because I had never had that kind of reaction to any celebrity death, but Heath had been one of my favorites since high school when I saw 10 Things I Hate About You (and then continued to watch it incessantly for years). It makes me sad to think of all the accomplishments and acclaims he could have had under his belt by now. Such a talent, such a beautiful human being…such a loss. I love you, Heath, and we miss you dearly.

Oscars 2011 Fashion Recap

How cute was Anne Hathaway as host last night?? As for Mr. Franco, he was a little….off? OK, so I’m pretty sure he was hitting the ganja during commercial breaks. But they were both pretty adorable nevertheless. I also really loved the younger, hipper vibe of the awards and thought the night had some pretty special moments (OMGz, Trent Reznor won an Oscar!).

And now on to the good stuff! The fashion!

I was loving all the lavender on the red carpet, especially Cate Blanchett’s perfectly quirky gown with its bits of chartreuse beading. I though it was so perfect. I know a lot of people weren’t feeling it, but I so was. Then again, I’m pretty sure Cate can’t do any wrong. Mila looked absolutely stunning in her sexy, yet demure number and her bestie, Natalie Portman was wearing a darker shade of purple that was equally gorgeous. Anne Hathaway looked so old Hollywood glam in her show-stopping red gown, and finally Gwyneth looked like a modern day Oscar statuette herself in that beautiful slinky gold gown. Pure perfection, ladies!

Not many on my worst dressed list this year, but these two had enough ugly to fill 10 slots. Oh, Nicole Kidman, why. The dress kind of reminds me of long weekends in Pompano Beach as a child in cheap Ramada Inn’s. I swear this dress has the same pattern as those terrible bath towels. No, no, and no. And as for you, Marisa. I just have two words: Jessica McClintock and possibly another two: Senior Prom.

Also, another trend I noticed that I didn’t dig: men sans grooming. I saw so many hot men that seemingly forgot to shave for one of the biggest nights in Hollywood (I’m looking at you, Christian Bale). Don’t get me wrong, I love facial hair. I just believe it has to be groomed appropriately. Boys, just look to Hugh Jackman for reference. Please and thank you.

So who do you think took the titles of best and worst dressed? Let me know in the comments if you agreed with me or disagreed!

Happy Hump Day: Topher Grace

Although I didn’t watch That 70’s Show religiously like others did, I still grew quite the crush on Topher Grace. I blame it his role in In Good Company. The clean, suited up and grown up look definitely suited him. Plus, despite looking grown up, he still had that geeky and awkward charm that makes me basically powerless. Unfortunately, he followed that with the horrific Superman 3, where he played Venom. A film best swept under the rug and never mentioned again, in my opinion. But, that doesn’t stand in the way of Topher and his off the charts cute level. Enjoy it below, readers, and if this spurs your love further, check out his new movie, Take Me Home Tonight.

Happy Hump Day: Russell Brand

Whenever I watch an interview with Russell Brand, I try my best not to be eating or drinking. Why? Because chances are, I most probably will spit whatever is in my mouth in a fit of hysterical laughter. True story. Although I do not find him to be the most attractive man on Earth, he gets many brownie points from me because he has a hot British accent, he is extremely witty and intelligent, and he can make me laugh like a mofo. I will personally never forget his amazing performance as Aldous Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which happens to be one of my favorite “I really need a laugh today” movies. I really have to get my hands on his books!

Happy Hump Day: Jim Sturgess

Although I wasn’t very impressed with Across the Universe (the film, the soundtrack is one of my favorites), I was with cutie Jim Sturgess, who played Jude. He’s British, is in a band and writes poetry. Be still, my beating heart. His breakout role was in 2007’s Beatles tribute, Across the Universe, but he has several films lined up that seem very promising, including One Day, co-starring Anne Hathaway. Aside from his acting career, he also continues to pursue music. He has written music for several films and is the band, Tragic Toys, with his longterm girlfriend (boo, hiss), Mickey O’Brien, who you might know as the keyboardist for the fun electropop group, La Roux. Wanna check out his tunes? Visit his Myspace page!

Jim, feel free to serenade me any day!

Happy Hump Day: Andrew Garfield

Now this is a face you are going to get used to seeing. Andrew Garfield is already pretty recognizable for playing one half of the duo that founded Facebook in David Fincher’s now award-winning film, The Social Network. But he has just sky rocketed to insta-fame with his latest casting: Spiderman. Everyone knows how popular super hero movies are these days, and a lot of people have high hopes for this reboot, especially after the disastrous run of the previous Spidey trilogy. Although I have no idea if they have improved upon the plot line this time around, I can honestly say that there is definitely some light at the end of the tunnel with Garfield (and the lovely Emma Stone!) on board. I’m already buying his Peter Parker way more than Tobey Maguire…and have you heard this boy speak? That is one adorable accent! While you wait impatiently for Andrew to slap on that suit, try to check him out in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – he played the naive and lovestruck Anton oh-so-well.
