Happy Thanksgiving!

photo

I’m breaking radio silence just to wish all of you and your loved ones a very special Thanksgiving.
I’m most thankful this year for my amazing support system; they are my own personal cheerleading squad and I love them more than they know: my family, my husband, his family and our friends. Also, the luck that each and every one of them is healthy.

Give thanks for all the things you are lucky enough to have and eat lots of turkey today!

Edit; special little message from yours truly!

This blog is going to be a little quiet for awhile – I need some time to do some soul-searching, some meditation. Something. I have had a lot on my mind lately and generally am feeling a little confused. A little unsure. A little flustered. I don’t really know what I want out of life right now. It’s a strange time because I know I am blessed but at the same time feel like something is missing. My emotions are all jumbled into one big mess at the moment so I think a break from blogging would be best. The last thing I want to do is post because I feel I need to. I need to get my inspiration back.

Actually, I need to get me back.

Oh, & this is completely temporary. Just a little mental health vacation.
See you soon.

xoxo

Weekend Highlights: New Moon

4124990191_3062359d40

As all of you know by now, I got a group of my girlfriends together on Saturday at Cinebistro to watch New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight Saga. Before discussing the movie, I have to gush about Cinebistro! I had never been there before and was blown away! First off, it’s only open to a 21+ crowd, which immediately makes it attractive. I’ve gotten to the age where I just cannot stand screaming little tweens or really any interruptions of any kind while I am watching a movie – it drives me insane, so the thought of watching a movie with only adults really appealed to me. It was absolutely silent in there and the seats were so so so comfy and huge! The food was also really delicious, but very expensive. Also, FYI: do not order a bucket of beer before the movie. I had to use the bathroom twice throughout the movie! Not the best decision, in  hindsight! Cinebistro is great, but definitely something to save for a special movie (which this was). We already have plans to visit again when Eclipse is released in June!

If you have not yet seen the movie and do not want to be spoiled, please do not continue reading!

Holidaze

Halloween may be my favorite holiday, but it is quickly followed by my two least favorites: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know what you must be thinking: what a grinch, but please, sympathize with me here. Is it not stressful as all get out? You hurry to buy everyone a thoughtful gift while braving the crowds only to go completely broke in the process and don’t forget the tree! And the ornaments! And have you sent those holiday cards out yet? Hurry! As if the monetary stress and impeding time crunch doom wasn’t bad enough, put your entire family in one spot and see what happens. Some kind of drama always ensues in mine. So that results in anything but holiday cheer.

However, I’ve tried my best to change my attitude this year. It has been a really good year for us, so I figure it is only fair to close it out in the same fashion (or at least attempt to). I am doing all my holiday shopping online this year, relying mainly on Etsy, and restricting my list to only immediate family. Sorry, friends, hope you understand. I’m pretty sure we give you enough alcohol during the rest of the year to make up for any nicely wrapped gift (wink, nudge). I’m also pretty sure our annual holiday party will be put on hold this year because I just do not have time (or funds), which should minimize some stress. Finally, I hope to go artificial this year in terms of my Christmas tree, opting for a more kitschy, fun and low-maintenance feel. For reference, check out my dear friend, Missy’s Christmas habitat.

So let’s hope I am successful. It really does not help that somehow stores have completely bypassed Thanksgiving and are already going full-throttle with Christmas. Uh, seeing Santa, trees and candy canes the day after Halloween really threw me for a loop.

What do you guys think? Do you like the holiday season? How do you manage to keep your sanity?

Two.

meliaugi-26Two years ago, I was getting married to my best friend, my true love, my everything. It was by far the most amazing day of my life and if I could, I would choose to groundhog-day-it over and over again. Thankfully, those strong feelings of warmth and love I experienced the day of have not yet subsided two years later.

I am extremely lucky to be married to a person that loves me for who I am, faults and all. Someone that knows me better than I know myself. Someone that would sacrifice their own happiness for mine. He is the person I trust. The person that makes me feel safe. The person that can truly make me smile, inside and out.

Happy anniversary, my love. I am truly the luckiest wifey.

Weekend Highlights

Saturday we all got together to celebrate one of our bestest friends birthdays. We met James about a year ago and can’t believe what quick friends we’ve become. We had a night full of flip cup competitions, rock band and general madness. We even had a breathalyzer in tow just for fun and I’m very happy to report that I was under the legal limit the entire night. Melificent was on her best behavior…too bad I could not say the same for Sunday. ;)

Sunday afternoon I picked up Rosy, who you may know from her amazing blog, Accidental Sexiness, for our next adventure. We hadn’t seen each other since our romp with the Heroes boys back in May and it was definitely high time for another one. Everyone knows my love for Mr. Rossdale and we were lucky enough to have him visiting the South Florida area for the Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic this weekend! Perfect set-up for us crazy Miami girls. Thanks to our assertiveness and well…obsessiveness (let’s not lie), we were able to watch Gavin practice from mere feet away. It was pretty amazing, I can’t lie. What was even more amazing was getting to chat briefly with him once he was done. He’s such a sweetheart. And gorgeous. And extremely talented when it comes to tennis – I always knew it was a hobby of his, but I never imagined that he would be as good as he was! He kicked major butt along with Lindsay Davenport in a doubles match against Jon Lovitz and Martina Navratilova, which Rosy and I were able to watch from excellent spots in the stands. On our way out, we were again able to coerce him to take a picture with us both before we had to force ourselves to leave Gavin and the event for the day.

Until the next Rosy&Meli adventure, make sure to check out Gavin on Criminal Minds this coming Wednesday, November 11th, at 9pm on CBS! Have a great week everyone!

Lovable Friday: Mute Math

lovablefriday1

First off, I’d like to say that I’m super sorry for the lack of updates this week. I’ve said it a million times over, but I really wish I could blog for a living. My actual living got in the way and I found myself feeling pretty overwhelmed with everything I had to juggle. Unfortunately, that meant that the blog had to take a backseat. But I hope to be back in action again starting today!

AWE MuteMath

This is not your usual Lovable Friday – no list today. Just lots and lots of Mute Math love! For those of you not in the know, Mute Math is a new band from New Orleans that I am not afraid to say is the best live act out there. Seriously. Now, you may listen to their albums and not be very impressed, but I can tell you if you attend one of their shows, you will be blown away.

Weekend Highlights: Halloween Edition

Picture 1We are lucky enough to have an amazing Halloween party to attend every year thanks to Augi’s work, Agencynet. They always throw the best parties in general, but really take it to another level when Halloween rolls by. Augi and I tried our best to hide our costumes this year, but a few people may have figured it out. We decided several months ago to go as The Comedian and the Silk Spectre I from The Watchmen. I immediately knew that I would have to contact my friends at Terribly Girly Photography in order for the look to be perfected! I was able to book Jenn D., who is amazing (no joke), for both my hair and makeup and she rocked it! I can’t tell you how many people asked me if it was a hairpiece or a wig. They could not believe it was my real hair. I think we did a great job and so far it’s been my favorite Halloween costume ever. I actually wish I could wear my hair like that on the daily! I think I was born in the wrong era. ;)

I don’t want to leave Augi behind – he did a great job on his costume as well. Not pictured above is his cigar and eye mask, which really complete the outfit. My only complaint was that terrible mustache he had to rock for the week leading up to Halloween – I could barely look at him! But enough gushing, I’ll let some of the photos from the party speak for themselves!

…in the Sanchez household!

I picked up these hysterical puppy costumes at Old Navy yesterday and was uber pleased to see that they were already heavily reduced. Score! Brad-Pitt’s skeleton tee is a little too big for him, but I think he still makes it look good. It was supposed to be paired with some devil horns, but I must have misplaced them. And I think I’ve finally found the cure for Gwen’s unstoppable hyperactivity: a bee costume. Whenever I put it on her, she just freezes in complete and total terror. Poor thing. I think I’ll cut back on the animal abuse until the big day. Not to give further clues, but I believe Gwen’s outfit will match nicely with mine. ;)
