Hair Polygamist.

I don’t know what my deal is, but I cannot stay loyal to one hairstyle. I just can’t do it! I pride myself on not having these commitment issues with any other aspect of my life, but this one I cannot quit! And I’m getting that itch now. When I got my haircut only 2 months ago, my new hairstylist told me I needed to get my hair cut every 2 months because my hair is color-treated. At that time, I just rolled my eyes but now I’m starting to think he strategically cut my hair so it would need another cut in that 2 month window! I feel like my hair has already lost its shape and pretty layers. So it’s time for something new – and no better time than right before my birthday & trip to San Diego, right? ;)

Weekend Highlights!

poolpartyblog

It’s pretty apparent we have welcomed summer here in South Florida – it’s been muggy, humid and disgusting outside. And nothing says summer quite like a pool party complete with BBQ! My friend, Adam, decided to do just that for his birthday on Saturday and we had such a great time. As always, hanging out with the AgencyNet gang was super fun and I got to break out my new bikini from Forever 21! Unfortunately, I got a little heavy handed with the booze and ended up having a classy moment at a Wafflehouse later that evening. Oops! I hope that as the summer continues we can keep rocking the pool parties – I should test out our community’s pool area, maybe I’ll throw one of my own! ;)

sunday

true-blood-01

Sunday brought a serious case of the hangover, which was only made worse by its pairing with school work as well as work-work. Bleh. Fortunately, I was rewarded later that night with the True Blood premiere! We went to James’ home and watched it together with a group of friends. To all fellow fans, how great was that opener? I can’t wait to see how this season plays out – it looks like it is going to be amazing! Augi has already promised to set up HBO at home so we don’t miss a moment! I plan on picking up a Merlotte’s shirt to wear to Comic-Con next month – gotta show my support, afterall ;)

Birthday Fashion Planning!

aaaaathrwyqaaaaaan0-cq

I can’t believe it, but next month we’ll already be heading to Comic-Con International in San Diego to celebrate our geekiness & my 2_ birthday! I remember when we first bought our tickets last year and how far away it seemed. Now it’s right around the corner!!

Besides all the fun we will be having in the actual convention with our favorite stars, I also plan on celebrating my birthday nightly (bwaha!). Augi and I are lucky enough to have 4 of our closest friends joining us on the trip and as if that wasn’t great as is, a bunch of my California dearies are also going to be meeting up with us to join in on the fun! Hopefully we’ll be hitting up some fun spots every night and I want to make sure I play the part of the birthday girl. This means only one thing: cute outfits!

Weekend Highlights

The majority of the weekend was very quiet with the exception of Saturday. I started off my Saturday with a bit of work at the office and then came home to the total mayhem that is an I/A Collective photoshoot! This week’s model was our dear friend, Kavita, who wanted a Suicide Girls-esque shoot. We had a blast picking out her outfits, fighting with bondage tape and jumping on beds. Basically, just another day at la Casa Sanchez. I do remember some video footage of a certain someone jumping on our bed in a leather bodysuit & a red cape speaking of how she “uses her powers for good,” but unfortunately I was not the one filming. So you’ll just have to take my word that it was an epic afternoon.

Later that night, we finally visited Yard House, the new “in” place to be in Miami. It’s located in Merrick Park in Coral Gables and boasts to have the world’s largest selection of draft beer. I was definitely not disappointed. The food was great, the beer was even better (I picked up 2 Dead Guy Ale’s) and of course, spending time with our closest friends is always appreciated. The only downside to the entire experience was the long wait to sit at a table. We waited over an hour and that was only because my friends placed a “call in” beforehand. I’ve heard horror stories from others that they have waited 3 hours + to get seated. So word to the wise: get there before 7pm if you don’t want a wait of epic proportion!

West Coast Bound!

I hope all of you had a great (& safe) Memorial Day weekend!

CA Trip 2003 (please excuse the trucker hat)
CA Trip 2003 (please excuse the trucker hat)

I’ll be leaving (on a jet plane) tomorrow to Northern California to visit family for a few days so unfortunately, I will not be updating the blog until next week. When I return, I’ll make sure to post a lot of pictures & a lot of stories. I can never get enough of California so I am beyond stoked for the trip! I’ll also be re-reading Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince while traveling so that I am fully prepared for the movie in July – nerd alert, I know!

Once again, I’m sure I’ll be tweeting throughout the trip, so make sure to check out @SoMelificent for all the action!

I will miss you all!!!

Lovable Friday!

1. Trip to California!
1. Trip to California!

Next week the hubs and I will be heading to the west coast to join in the festivities for his cousin’s high school graduation in Folsom, CA. Although we will only have one day to enjoy the amazing-ness that is San Francisco, I will take it! The hubs grew up in the Bay Area so no doubt his heart strings will be pulled hard and tight – can’t make any promises that we will want to come back! ;) This also means that Melificent will be devoid of any posts next week, so try not to miss me too much! Hopefully I’ll return with some great posts about my trip. On an aside, I have no idea what to pack for our day in SF! This Miami girl does not know how to handle drastically changing day-to-night weather! Yipes!

Melificent Concert Season Continues

Tonight both myself and my good friend, Bonnie, will be in Orlando, FL to see Gavin Rossdale perform at the House of Blues (which I hear is a great venue)! I am so ridiculously excited, you guys cannot fully comprehend. As you all know, I’ve been a pretty big fan of his since the Bush days and although I cannot say I adore his new solo material, I support him in whatever he chooses to do. I got to see Gavin perform last year also in Orlando, before his solo record was released and I had such a great time. I love that he manages to splice new material with old Bush material in all his shows. The 14-year-old in me is forever thankful.

So today’s post is short & sweet, but make sure you follow me on Twitter (@SoMelificent) tonight as I will be tweeting as much as possible (or until my iPhone craps out on me). Have a great Tuesday and I will have a very appropriate Hump Day post come tomorrow!

Weekend Highlights: Band From TV Edition!

I knew Saturday was going to be all sorts of awesome, but I have to say the night surpassed all my expectations! First, I got to meet the amazingly awesome (& hawt) blogger, Rosy, from Accidental Sexiness (follow her blog if you don’t already!). We had been following each other on Twitter for a few weeks, sharing our love for Heroes, tall men & all things British. It was such a treat to finally meet her in person and get to share such an amazing experience along with her. I have to say that she is one great partner in crime!

After beginning our night the way we promised we wouldn’t (by drinking heavily), we headed to The Shore Club. The minute we walked into the hotel, we run into Mr. Greg Grunberg. I was buzzing pretty hard off my ridiculously huge drinks, but thought quick enough to mention Yowza instantly! Before I knew it, Grunny was all over my iPhone trying to change my preferences as well as trying to fix my busted Google Maps application. I don’t really think I processed who I was talking to – he was so down to earth and amazingly sweet that it was hard to imagine that this guy is a celebrity on a hit TV show. It is always such a treat to meet talented people that are still humble and truly care about their fans.

The Art of Digi-Scrap

digiscrap

Although I don’t seem like “the type” that would be a scrapbooking fiend, I totally am. I have documented my life since middle school using scrapbooks, but hit quite the bump in the road when digital cameras became all the rage. Sure, it was easy to keep up with while I was in school and working part-time, but once I entered “the real world,” it was almost impossible to keep my albums up to date, much less find the time to make elaborate and creative pages. I am embarrassed to admit that I am basically 3 years (& then some) behind when it comes to scrapbooking – I believe my last attempt was my wedding scrapbook.

But then I discovered something amazing thanks to my sister: digital scrapbooking! A lot of you have asked me what it is and how to get started, so I’ll run over the basics in this post so you can get an idea of what to expect and see if you are interested in picking it up yourself! I don’t necessarily know if it is “easier,” but to me, it is cheaper and way more convenient since I spend the majority of my free time during the week glued to a computer screen.

Project 365

project365_uploadsize

For those of you not familiar with this photo project, Project 365 challenges participants to take a photo a day for a year. I’ve tried to start this project 3 times now and have been unsuccessful. However, with the birth of this blog and the constant nagging of my friends, I have decided to pick it up for the 4th time and restrict it to only self-portraits. I really hope I am able to complete it this time around because I’ve always marveled at completed projects on Flickr. It is amazing to see a year of someone’s life illustrated in pictures.

I am currently on day 12 and although I am only armed with a small Canon point & shoot, I am doing my best and have been consistent! Hopefully this will push me to be more creative, something I’m always craving. If you want to keep up with my Project 365, you can visit my Flickr set. However, I’ll be posting mosaics of my photos monthly here on the blog. I’m hoping by doing so, it’ll help keep me motivated!

So what do all of you think? Like the idea? Have you ever attempted your own Project 365?

ps; Happy Cinco de Mayo!! Have a margarita (or two, or three) on me tonight!
