Ten.

Tomorrow marks 10 years since my husband first turned to me and said, “I guess we are dating now?” It’s hard to fathom that our relationship has been going strong for a decade. People reacted so negatively when we first began dating, saying that we were too young to talk about a future together and that we would eventually grow apart. Granted, our relationship has not been all unicorns and rainbows. There were a lot of bumps along the way that would have definitely pushed apart most, but we soldiered on and I have a feeling we always will. Relationships are not easy, they are not smooth and effortless despite what Pinterest quotes may lead you to believe.

I think the movie, Crazy Stupid Love (which made me cry like an asshole), summed it up best:

I should have fought for you. Because you fight for your soul mates.

I will never stop fighting for you, Agustin Lovio Sanchez.
Happy anniversary baby. To our past, present and very bright future together.
I love you.

Birthday Week To Remember

First off, I missed you all terribly. I realized that my heart literally hurts when I am not blogging – it is such a sweet stress reliever (and so much fun). Unfortunately, as most of you know by now that are involved in my day-to-day, I am back on the study train. My second certification exam is at the end of September, and it must be passed. But no fear! I still intend to blog regularly – you just may see gaps here and there. I am hoping I can reward myself on the weekends by making a post or two in between studying sessions.

With that said, it has been awhile since I have properly updated you all on fun events in my life (that do not revolve around an outfit post) – although I was wearing a pretty superb one to this one that should have been documented. It seems pretty tedious to have to reiterate my love of the band, Bush, on this blog, so if you are not aware of the love affair you can fill yourself in here, here and even here.

Nearly a couple of weeks ago, I went on yet another Bushtastic adventure with some of my girlfriends to Tampa. I saw it as a birthday extension (I can never have too many of those), and a much needed escape from reality. I had found out a few days earlier that Bush would be playing a Shush show the afternoon of their official show, which is a short, bare and acoustic set, usually reserved for radio appearances and the like. Needless to say, after seeing so many other fans’ footage from these events, I wanted in and the only way in, was unfortunately to win. Well, boo hiss to that. A quick fast forward, and the lovely guitarist from the band (and superior human), Chris Traynor, caught wind that I wanted to go and granted me and my friends access. I was in disbelief. Who the hell does that for their fans? Oh yeah, this band.

Withdrawals

Coming down from this cloud has proven to be pretty difficult.
Give me a little time to recuperate and Melificent will be back as usual!

Rock ‘n Roll Road Trip

Don’t miss me too much!
I’ll be continuing the birthday celebrations for the next two days in Tampa with some pretty awesome ladies. We’ll be seeing Bush live (twice in one day – who has the opportunity to do that) and then visiting Busch Gardens! I’m really excited for a girlie road trip, and even more excited to finally meet the lovely blogger, Terri, of Delightfully Darling after years of online friendship.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

thirty one.

I was inspired by the lovely Mandy of Harper’s Happenings and her post on turning 31 to write my own. As you all know, I’ve had a hard time coming to terms with hitting my 30’s, but I feel like this year I have learned a lot about myself and I like the direction I am heading. Most of all, turning 30 has made me realize that there is no need for me to try to be anyone else but myself. This is me, and I will throw it out there on a plate for you to either take or leave. I do not have to change for anyone, for anything or because I am a certain age, in a certain profession or living in a certain city.

Risky Business

It’s been a tough week.
I got sick while on vacation, and it has proven to be the never ending stomach bug. I’m still sick as we speak, but I’m slowly improving. I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, so I won’t focus on that. Instead, check out the huge risk I decided to take with my hair before leaving on vacation:

Pink ombre!

While searching through Pinterest, I had seen such awesome fashion colored ombre hairstyles, and wanted one to call my own! Now that I don’t work in an office, I figured it was my time to have a little fun. Five hours in a salon later, my hairstylist did a fantastic job making it a reality! I am so happy with it – especially how long it has lasted! Two weeks later and it still is pretty vibrant and beautiful. If you are in the South Florida area and looking for a talented hair dresser, I totally recommend Valerie from Peter of London. She has never steered me wrong!

Would you take a hair risk this big?

Strictly Polished

Fancy a bright polish?

A girl needs a pick me up once in a while. And what better way to feel good than with a strictly neon nail polish? I was going through my usual weekly polish change, and decided on Essie’s “Fear or Desire”. Described as the ultimate orange crush, this color will surely put a pep on your step. Share your favorite polish colors, and maybe I’ll sport that one next! I’m always looking for suggestions. What girl isn’t when faced with decisions at the nail salon? xo, Aurora

Summer Lovin’

Adam, call me maybe?

As editor of Where South Florida magazine, I find myself playing with copy and on deadline constantly. Time flies as I quietly close the door to my office and read on. During the summer, I find it hard to concentrate without a good summer anthem. Looking out the window, I see the sunshine beating down and imagine myself on the beach with a cool drink. Lately, my tune has been Maroon 5’s “Payphone”. Matched up with an electric video and Adam Levine’s sultry vocals, it’s hard not to sing along to this quirky anthem. What is your summer song? Feel free to share. I could always use a good mix to plug into my iTunes. And check out my summer jam right here. Feel free to sing along. xo, Aurora

Comic Con Bound!

This really snuck up on me, but tomorrow I’ll be leaving on a jet plane to LA, where I will be meeting up with some of my most favorite people to hang out and relax. You can refer to it as the calm before the storm that is San Diego Comic Con! I am fortunate enough to be going as press again with my dear friend & partner in crime, Rosy Cordero, of Accidentalsexiness. We will be live tweeting from our joint project’s account, so make sure to follow & keep up with us at @soblogalicious! We will also be hosting a live hangout straight from the source from our Google+ account, so make sure to add it now! Additionally, I will be taking some street style photos to share with all of you on the blog when I return. Don’t think Comic Con is a fashion mecca? You’d be surprised, my friends.

I am so excited for this adventure – I’m sure you all remember how great it was for me a couple of years back. I met some pretty astounding people and made some great connections. I hope to do all that and more this time around!

And if you are feeling a little disheartened about my absence, fear not! The lovely Aurora, editor of Where South Florida, will be taking over the blog while I am gone. Be nice to her, and show her your love! I’m sure she’ll be sharing some amazing content in my stead!
