What I Wore: Impromptu Getaway

Although my week had a lot of high’s, there were quite a few low’s as well. It was stressful and I was pretty sure the end was nowhere in sight, so when the light that was Friday evening strolled around, I was ready to just relax. I had mentioned on Facebook that I wanted to lay out on a beach and do nothing, but I knew that wasn’t going to be possible. I had a lot of things on my agenda for the weekend, basically leaving me no time to just sit back and relax so I decided to take things into my own hands. Sometimes what you really need to do is cancel all your plans and take an impromptu mental health day. And I did just that.

I grabbed the hubs, we piled into the Cube and we made our way down to The Florida Keys. It was a gorgeous day, and we spent it admiring the scenery, looking at boats we will never be able to afford, drinking girly drinks (yum) and eating seafood (lobster to be exact – double yum) while ocean side. It was a beautiful and perfect escape – I highly recommend doing the same every now and then. Life is too short to not sit back and enjoy it sometimes.

We had two very amazing house guests over the weekend, so you are going to have to forgive me this week. In fact, you may know them! Have you heard of the little blog they call The Great Discontent? If you haven’t, definitely check it out. It’s a very inspiring little spot on the Interwebs run by a truly fabulous couple.

Blog posts may be a little anemic, but I promise the quality will make up for the quantity!

It’s a nice day for a…wet wedding!

I hope you all had a really great long weekend – I definitely did! I was the maid of honor (please don’t call me a matron) in one of my closest friends’ wedding at the beautiful Addison in Boca Raton. I had a great time laughing uncontrollably at ridiculous google searches, watching hilarious youtube videos and singing Disney songs as we got ready for the big day. Although the day turned rainy right before the event was slated to begin, everything worked out fabulously. My friends looked so happy, we were with so many special people and there was so much love in the air. I hope it was everything she ever imagined and more!

Our bouquets were made of paper! Amazing, right?

What I Wore: Rock ‘n Roll Lifestyle

Welcome to Miami summers: humid, disgusting and bright. I’m pretty sure the morning these photos were taken, there was hail. Unless, of course, I was having some twisted nightmare. So, naturally, it was a great idea to rock the full on black rockstar look. I’m a Miami native, so I can handle it, but I’m pretty sure the hubs was ready to go on strike!

I channeled my inner Alison Mosshart (I want to be her when I grow up) and played the part of the tortured and cool rockstar. Did I pull it off?

What I Wore: Tangerine Tango

It was only a matter of time before I succumbed to the pantone color of the year, tangerine tango. I had seen it on, well everything, and while attending the Fashion Bloggers Event at Neiman Marcus a few weeks back, I decided I had to make it mine. Specifically in pant form. So I scoured the web trying to find an affordable pair of orange pants/jeans, only to find them at Tobi (my new guilty pleasure) for 30% off. I naturally had to have them. And I’m so glad for the impulse buy! They are so vibrant and amazing. I’m warning you all, this will be my summer staple. Sorry if I bore you.

Funny story about my super pretty, light and breezy top pictured. That night, I decided it would be awesome to cook in said fantastic and pretty top. Unfortunately, the oil I was cooking with thought it was amazing as well because it splattered all over it! I had a minor panic attack (I mess up all my new clothes, always), but after a quick hand wash, I was able to save it! Rejoice! You may also see me in this top for the entirety of summer. Anything semi-sheer and lightweight will get a lot of airplay in our 100+ degree heat. Deal with it. ;)

Also, let me just apologize for my face/hair/everything in these photos. I realized it is not the best idea to snap photos right at noon. The sun was burning into my retinas and I had decided it was a really great idea to attempt cutting my own bangs. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.

My War with Gluten

As most of you know, I was diagnosed as being gluten intolerant last January. It has been a very hard year trying to change my eating habits, and unfortunately, I feel like it is only getting worse. I would go on “wheat benders” as I refer to them as, where I would gorge on as many gluten-filled items as possible, only to feel horrible for weeks to come. This would prompt me to go very strict, only to find that a little gluten had slipped in unknowingly, making me ill again. The constant struggle and discomfort was just too much for me, so I decided to go both gluten and lactose free at the beginning of this month. In addition, I started a food diary to track my daily intake and how I felt afterwards. I hope this will help me see exactly what I can and cannot eat and prevent further poisoning.

Unfortunately, it’s been a bumpy road. I’ve noticed I can’t really eat out (which breaks my heart), and that dairy definitely effects me just as bad, if not worse, than gluten. Not a very easy reality to adjust to. If any of you readers have any advice to dish out, I am all ears. I miss living a life without any stomach pain.

What I Wore: Collars, Crates & Cuties

I had a little guest in my photos today (that would be the cutie in question)!! We decided to bring along our adorable 7-year-old Boston Terrier, Brad-Pitt, for the shoot. He was recently diagnosed as being obese, so we have him on a strict diet and are trying to get him a little more active. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity! I also wanted to give a little homage to the fabulous blogger, Fancy Treehouse (so excited about her pregnancy announcement).

A lot of exciting things have been swirling around and I hope to be sharing some fun new endeavors with all of you soon!
