What I Wore: Downtown Disney

After our Disney photo-taking extravaganza, we took it easy the following day and just strolled around Downtown Disney and had a few drinks at a nearby brewery. I was so happy to see so many restaurants offering gluten free options (favorite definitely being the GF fish & chips at Raglan Road Pub) – going out to eat is usually a huge struggle for me (honestly, I’ve been avoiding it lately), but it was made so easy on this trip. You really got to give it to Disney for trying to make it a pleasurable experience for all their guests.

Something else I love about Disney? You can dress a little wilder than usual and not get many side glances. Although you may be thinking my outfit isn’t that cray, I assure you it is for typical Miami folk. I always feel like I have to reign in my style (dumb it down so to speak) on days where I just don’t feel like getting those strange looks from people on the street. But not here. Oh no, Disney encourages you to hoist your freak flag and I love it. This outfit was paired with my Mickey ears earlier, but due to some serious gusts of wind, I had to take it off and tuck it in the safety of my purse. I really wish I would have gotten some shots with them on though – I was channeling a modern Minnie Mouse. ;)

Do You Want My Clothes?

My closet desperately needed a Spring, Winter, Fall, and Summer cleaning so I went ahead and did so yesterday. While I was making my pile, I realized a lot of the victims had never even been worn once! I didn’t think it was right to just toss them aside without offering them a new home first where they could at least see the light of day. So I decided to offer them to all of you, lovely readers! If no one is interested, then up on Ebay they will go, but you all get first dibs!

If you want to snag a piece, leave me a comment saying so and it will be yours. First come, first serve! Just as an aside, these all come from a smoke-free home and at max, have been worn once.

Happy shopping!

This Marc Jacobs dress is actually a size 2, totally my error. :)

What I Wore: Disney World

Like I mentioned yesterday, we went to Disney World over the weekend to take our friends’ engagement photos in various parks. It had been too long a time since I had visited the mouse (Potter has been taking up all my Orlando visits as of late), and I wanted to make sure I showed my love by wearing my awesome, vintage Mickey ears. I also wanted to avoid the usual jean shorts-tank top-fanny pack fare that most tourists wear and put together a comfortable and airy outfit that was still stylish and fun.

What I Wore: Keys Date

The hubs and I do Valentine’s…our way. This usually means something very low-key – remember the IKEA date? Or the stay-at-home foodie fest? Well, this year we decided at the very last minute to drive down to the Florida Keys and just bum around, enjoying the pure beauty of one of our favorite places. And what a perfect day! It was bright, sunny and chilly (we don’t get that trio often), and we were in heaven.

I’ve also finally gotten over my fear of colored denim and have jumped straight to blinding love. I was totally inspired by this Polyvore collage to pair animal print with my new absolutely favorite green pants – and who knew: it worked! I’ll slowly become braver and attempt color blocking in the future, but baby steps for now! I especially loved that I matched with all the local decor. ;)

What I Wore: Pup Getty

Happy Valentine’s Day to my lovely readers! I hope you all have a wonderful day filled with lots of love and happiness, whatever your relationship status may be! The hubs and I celebrated a little early this past Sunday with an impromptu trip down to the Florida Keys (more about that later this week), so today will be just another day for us. But back to the outfit post at hand! Over the weekend, we went over to our friend’s home for a get together to meet their new little (furry) bundle of joy: a 2-month old Boston Terrier named Jasper Finn! As if that wasn’t fun enough, we also had chilly weather, which meant tights(!), jackets(!), scarves(!). And you better believe I did all of the above.

Baggy tee; Forever 21

Tights; Target
Scarf; Primark (London)

Happy Birthday, Melificent!

It’s hard to believe that Melificent is 3 years old today. Where has time gone? I remember making the difficult decision to move from a private, locked Livejournal account to a public “big girl” blog. Little did I know how much of a creative outlet it would be, not to mention therapeutic. It’s been an amazing ride, as always. I want to thank all my readers (old and new alike) for supporting the blog and always providing such a positive environment. I’d also like to thank all those amazing bloggers that inspire me on a daily basis to work harder and provide more quality content.

Overall, what I have learned the most this past year has been to be true to myself on Melificent. It doesn’t matter what blog posts what. This blog is mine. And I will post whatever I’d like. Not to mention that sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to get a little personal. So thank you, all of you, for another wonderful year.

The best is yet to come.

I Call Her Red

{yeah, that’s a Jordan Catalano reference…}

I was finally able to fix my crazy dye job last week and the results are amazing!
So lucky to have been able to find such a kick ass stylist at Peter of London that understands my crazy wants and needs (I’m not the easiest client when it comes to hair).

My hair was about 3 different shades making it kind of embarassing to wear it down (even with my amazing new haircut), so that would be why you always saw it up in my attempt of a top knot bun. Now, I haven’t thrown it up since getting it done! Oh, red. I’ve missed you so.

What’s your favorite hair color?
