Happy Hump Day: Matthew Morrison

tn-500_morrison_wm148079

Today is hump day, yes. But for the past few weeks, Wednesdays have meant something else for the majority of the U.S.: it’s Glee day!!! What I find to be one of the best new shows (if not the best) of the Fall has taken America by storm. After being lucky enough to attend the Glee panel at Comic-Con, I can honestly say that I don’t think any of the cast or crew thought this show would be as huge as it has become. But you really can’t go wrong with a batch of such talented (and good looking) people. Matthew Morrison would definitely be grouped in that category! He plays Will, the new Glee club teacher, that is struggling with not only his job stability but also with his marriage to a complete and total fruit loop.

If you don’t watch the show, I highly recommend it. If my word isn’t enough for you, check out their killer rendition of Don’t Stop Believin’. I’m pretty much you’ll be sold.

Enjoy the spam, ladies!

We Could Be Heroes…

IMG_4085

…Just for one day night!

Sorry for the super duper late post everyone, but last night we hosted a viewing party for the season 4 premiere of Heroes! Although a few fans couldn’t make it at the last minute, we still had a good time. However, I must say that it was quite the challenge to watch a 2-hour season premiere with people that had never watched the show before, but they were troopers and dealt with my yelling and grumbling under my breath. ;)

Our awesome friend, Roxy, made these kick ass brain cupcakes in honor of our favorite character, Sylar (of course). They were absolutely scrumptious but I have to admit that as I put the brain (actually a mold using candy) portion in my mouth, I may have gagged a little. The coolest part about these cupcakes is that I tweeted about them this morning, and Ms. Wendi Lynn herself re-tweeted me with a message from a little guy you may know:

Picture 1

Uhhhh, awesome sauce. Have I mentioned how much I adore Twitter? Because I do. Just sayin’.

Anywho, as if these cupcakes weren’t enough, we also put together some pretty tasty Chicken & Waffles dishes, which ties in to the show as being Hiro’s favorite childhood meal. We definitely got no complaints on that front – the plates basically disappeared in a puff of smoke (super powers?). I also provided super hero masks to the girls (boys refused), which we found to be pretty debilitating in regards to drinking beer effectively and, you know…seeing. So those were short-lived.

So on to the stuff I know you really care about: the show. Do not read on if you do not want to be spoiled.

Weekend Highlights

satit-might-get-loud

On Saturday night, I went with the hubs & Elsie to Lincoln Road theater to see the documentary, It Might Get Loud. The movie revolves around Jack White (The White Stripes), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and The Edge (U2) as they discuss their different backgrounds, musical styles, influences and general passion for music. The three eventually get together to discuss what music means to them and to swap musical stylings with each other. I didn’t know the story behind these men, even being a big fan of their music, and was blown away by the level of dedication and creativity. Music is such a big part of my life so I was mesmerized by their techniques and just general love for their craft. I definitely recommend this documentary to musicians and music lovers alike!

1. She Wants Revenge Concert

Wednesday night I joined a bunch of my friends at Ft. Lauderdale’s Revolution LIVE to see She Wants Revenge. I have to admit that I came into it pretty clueless when it came to any details about the band. I had just heard a couple of singles and found them fun to dance to. One of my best friends, Elsie, is a huge fan and when she invited me to come along with her – I decided what the hell! I am so glad I went! First off, it turns out a large group of our friends were going so being able to spend a night dancing with some of my favorite people is always a win in my book. Second, one of the opening bands was Kill Hannah, who are a Chicago band that have had a long friendship with Mr. Billy Corgan himself! It was my first time seeing them and they were amazing – could definitely hear the strong Pumpkins influence. However, I was too chicken to go up to them after the show and express our mutual SP love. Fail. Lastly, wow. She Wants Revenge definitely blew me away – they were so.much.fun. I danced until I couldn’t feel my toes anymore! But what happened after the show was probably the best part of the night. We were able to meet the band & two of my friends got their SWR lyrical tattoos signed by both members, Adam & Justin! They were quite possibly the coolest guys ever – I always love meeting celebrities that don’t take themselves so seriously. Unfortunately, I just discovered that Adam was passing a kidney stone that night through his Twitter account! I can’t believe he was going through so much pain but still managed to be so polite to his fans: he chatted them up, signed autographs and took pictures with all of them. Not to mention headed to LIV at the Fountainbleu in Miami to spin a set after our show! I think it’s pretty safe to say that these guys just got themselves a new fan.

Delayed Weekend Highlights!

sat3914660958_5884e771cc_o

The first half of the weekend was all about family. My husband’s family was in from out of town for his grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. It was lovely to reminisce about the length of their beautiful relationship through both stories and photos. I hope that Augi and I will be able to share such a milestone with our children and grandchildren one day. We spent the majority of the weekend with everyone, had a family photoshoot, attended a special mass and had a delicious family dinner at Trattoria Sole. It all made me realize how important family is and how lucky we are to have them around. Others are not as fortunate.

Our love is so rock steady

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale Wedding

I’d like to wish my most favoritest couple ever a very very happy wedding anniversary and I hope they have many many more to come. They are one of the only Hollywood couples that know how to do it right and it’s a breath of fresh air. I just hope Ms. Stefani finally realizes that it’s OK to loan him out every now and then as I’ve been waiting for my turn for quite some time. ;)

Also, some brief thoughts on last night’s VMA’s:

– Kanye West is the biggest douche on this planet.
– I have come to the conclusion that I do not understand Lady Gaga.
Muse being introduced as “the band that influenced Twilight” put a stake through my heart. Repeatedly.
– I am pretty far removed from what is considered “popular music.”
– I’m totally OK with that.

ps; No worries! The weekend wrap-up will be up tomorrow – I have to play a little catch up!

Happy Hump Post: Josh Holloway

happyhumptumblr_kp4wuk7s2q1qzg4qso1_400

First off, do you guys like my new logo for Hump Day? It reminded me of the Barbie lipstick logo, which I thought fit in with the theme pretty nicely: good girls being bad. OK, back to the matters at hand. Hot men. Today’s hump day hottie is everyone’s favorite castaway, Josh Holloway, who plays Sawyer on LOST. I’m pretty sure everyone knows how big of a LOST fan I am by now and the island is not in short supply of good looking people. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Sawyer is on the top of that list. Funny enough, I couldn’t stand his character when the show started and it actually took several seasons for me to warm up to him – now, he is one of my favorites…for more reasons that one. Enjoy some of those below. ;)

1. Kickball Parties
1. Kickball Parties

As you can tell from yesterday’s post, I love stumbling upon blogs of talented people that also happen to enjoy life to the fullest. A perfect example is Jessica Claire. Jessica is a wedding photographer who mixes personal posts along with her professional ones on her blog. One amazing post revolved around her 30th birthday, which she celebrated by holding an epic game of kickball with all her closest friends. Uh. Amazing. So much so that I hope Jessica doesn’t get insulted because I’m totally ripping off the idea for the hubs’ birthday this year. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? ;)

Happy Hump Day: Ryan Kwanten

true-blood-ryan-kwanten

Unfortunately, I will always refer to this guy as JASON STAAACKHAAAAAUUUZ. Ryan Kwanten (I like my rendition better) plays Sookie’s dense & promiscuous brother, Jason Stackhouse, on HBO’s True Blood. Although his character is dumb as a doorknob and occasionally a really big jerk (he’s been redeeming himself this season), you can’t deny his good looks. Plus, did you know that he’s Australian? Don’t believe me? Hear for yourself right here. In Melificent’s world, that gives you 20 bonus points off the bat. Enjoy the goodies, ladies!

1. All-Mighty Barrettes
1. All-Mighty Barrettes

I love my dogs so much. I can’t imagine ever owning any other breed, so naturally, I adore All-Mighty, a store dedicated to “the love of Boston Terriers.” They sell everything from onesies, adorable tees & now barrettes! Secretly, I am still a little girl that likes to wear bows in her hair (OK, maybe not such a secret) so these are slaying me! I am definitely buying some, but I am torn: there are so many different styles to choose from (12 to be exact)! What’s a girl to do?? I guess I’ll just have to get them all ;)
