For all of us that have an ::ahem:: love of writing instruments, it can tend to get out of hand. Case in point: I am currently looking at about 15 pens and pencils cluttering my supposed dining room table centerpiece tray. I’ve always lusted over Blu DOT home furnishings, but it’s always been just out of reach financially. So I was content admiring from afar. You can only imagine my reaction when I saw that they decided to partner up with Target for a more affordable collaboration! I’m pretty sure that is nothing new, and I am late to this game, but I am excited either way. The console featured above is one of my favorite pieces and would fit great in our quirky and fun living room. What’s your fav?
October is full of so many festivities – it’s always one of my favorites!
It also is home to my favorite holiday and my favorite person’s birthday, my husband. He said he wanted something very low-key at home with his closest friends. Nothing major, just a night where we could have a few cocktails and catch up. I took the opportunity to make the party special, while not breaking the bank. I used items that were either under $5 or that I found laying around the house. It is totally possible to throw a party at your home without saying goodbye to a quarter of your bank account, I promise.
Oh my cute. Although there are no Melificent babies to speak of (yet), I’m going to keep this adorable DIY on file for the future. I mean, how cute are babies in hipster cardigans? I die. Now to master the art of sewing.
I definitely had a physical reaction when I saw this BEYOND adorable iPhone case by Marc Jacobs. Usually if a dog is featured on accessories, it’s a Frenchie, so I was so happy to see that Marc Jacobs decided to use our favorite little furries instead! Although the case is a steep $50, I still find myself wanting to move it into my shopping cart. I’m easily swayed.
It had been too long since I hosted a girls only crafting party, so I felt the need to remedy that. This past weekend, I invited some girls over to make our own headbands! We had a blast working from this template, and added some much needed wine and gossip to the mix. Best part? I was able to add some fun details with items I had laying around the house!

I absolutely love the tile in this London property. It almost seems a little Mondrian in style, no? I think it really makes a great modern impression and looks fantastic against the retro tube. Love the juxtaposition! I just wish I could figure out how they did it. Different color tiles? Painted certain tiles? A woman has got to know!
A lot of people are scared of combining colors, but really there is no reason for it. I always get people telling me, “only you could pull something like that off,” but it’s absolutely not true! Anyone can pull off mixing and matching of colors (and patterns), you just have to do so with a discerning eye. It’s not about throwing every item in your closet on yourself at the same time (although that seemed to be a hit in the 80’s), but rather about putting together complimentary colors the right way. Case in point: two neons do not make a right. Although I am pairing two bright colors together with my tee and skirt, notice that the tee is taking center stage, being the brightest and most neon (even though it’s hard to see in some of the photos). My skirt is also vibrant, sure, but it is way more muted.
