What I Wore: Indie Craft Bazaar

Just recently while shopping with the lovely Fashionable ESQ, I complained that I don’t think I can rock the peplum look very well. She looked at me like I was crazy, and as usual, gave me an ego boost assuring me that I could wear whatever I wanted. I may have rolled my eyes or scoffed at her, but apparently her advice stuck because just this past weekend, I threw on the one peplum item I own and guess what? I liked the way it looked again. Friends are pretty neat.

I wore this outfit to a local craft fair, so look out for a full blown post on my experience later this week!

Lovable Friday

1. Miami’s Vixen Workout; leave it to a Miami girl to put together a 60-minute workout to booty music while rocking sky-high heels for maximum results. But seriously, this is nothing to scoff at. I have not yet attended one of these killer sessions, but I hear they are beyond fun and get your heart rate begging for mercy. Who wants to be my partner in twerk (did I really just use the term twerk)??

2. Unicorn sweater; there are few better things than allowing a unicorn to keep you toasty in chilly weather, am I right? OK, so maybe there are (like Henry Cavill for instance), but right now, it’s all about this amazing unicorn sweater. It’s a little grade school mixed with a little magic, and I clearly must have it for our upcoming European travels. Did I mention my birthday is coming up??

3. My Little Skeleton; by now, you must realize that I am a huge My Little Pony fan. I have a decal on my laptop, I went to Build-a-Bear and created my own Rainbow Dash (she is named Daenerys, naturally) and somewhere, have a collection of all my vintage ponies. So when I saw this anatomical sculpture of a pony, I had a physical reaction. Although there is no glitter, streamers or confetti, as I would imagine would make up one of these bad boys, I approve. ;)

4. Lime Crime; I don’t know what took me so long to discover this FABULOUS beauty line, but just yesterday I stumbled on the pure glory of Lime Crime and their lipsticks, nail polishes and eye makeup. Not only are they fun, wild and fantastic, but their creator, Doe Deere, looks like she stepped straight out of an anime. Does she realize she now has to be my best friend?

5. Critter flats; oh, Marc Jacobs. Why do you toy with my heart? Along with Kate Spade, I’m pretty sure they are well on their way to destroy my bank account. Look at these kitty & mouse flats! Look at them, people! Would you even wear these? They are little works of art. If someone stepped on me while wearing a pair, I think I would go postal. And wait. While searching for a link to share with you all, I discovered he did not stop at cats & mice, but also made BOSTON TERRIER flats to match his iPhone case (which naturally I own). ::waves fist in anger::

Nails of the Month

Say hello to a new feature!!!

I’m pretty sure everyone knows by now that I kind of have a problem with nail polish. Namely, my collection looks like something you find at a beauty salon and I may recite the name of Essie colors like they were my children’s. But hey! Everyone has their vices, right? I could do a lot worse than nail polish. ;)

So I’ll be chronicling all my manicures for the month and then linking the tutorials I followed (if they are all fancy-like), and the colors I used, since I get a lot of comments/questions when I post them on my Instagram. This way, I can share the information with all you guys, while also reviewing some shades at the same time! Like it? Good!

1: Galaxy nails; This one was super fun, and surprisingly easy! As long as you have a variety of shades (I don’t have that problem – heh), you should be good to go. Especially when you are following this fantastic tutorial. The colors I used were China Glaze’s Smoke & Ashes for the base, along with Sinful Colors’ Love Nails, Essie’s Boom Boom Room, Savina’s Light Mist & N.Y.C.’s Starry Silver Glitter.
2: Ombre nails; So after such a kick ass tutorial, I decided to subscribe to MissJenFabulous‘ videos, and found that her ombre how to was her top rated. Naturally, I had to give it a try. This one? Even easier than the galaxy nails! Since my nails are so short, I decided to only choose 2 colors, but next time I’m going to go big and try 3. Also, here’s a tip: I personally think you should choose really bright hues that are not similar for the best effect. You may not be able to note the ombre effect if they are too close in hue. Don’t be timid! I used Essie’s Tart Deco & Boom Boom Room.
3: Fancy nails; I’m a big fan of the fancy nail. It just gives a simple manicure that omph that makes it special. Unfortunately, I really needed that with this mani because I was pretty disappointed with the main shade, Essie’s Absolutely Shore. As you see, it’s not very opaque, and that was after like 4-5 coats! Not my favorite color…For the fanciness, I used Essie’s Boom Boom Room again (didn’t realize how much I used it in June) layered with Essie’s Over the Top.
4: Color club; After several recommendations from another polish-obsessed friend, I decided to give Color Club a try. As their name suggests, they carry some pretty fun hues that are very pigmented, so naturally I was drawn to the brights. The one that really caught my eye was Age of Aquarius, this amazing aqua. It is simply the perfect shade for summer. New favorite! Best part? They come in for a lot less than Essie, China Glaze or O.P.I. and (at least in my experience) last so much longer!

Lovable Friday!

1. Studded skirt; Who doesn’t want to feel like a rockstar when they get all glammed up to hit the town? Well, maybe some girls wouldn’t want to, but I’m not one of them. This studded skirt immediately caught my eye, even though I kind of think it looks heavy and uncomfortable (can’t you imagine one of the studs getting caught on something at the worst moment???). Either way, it looks like my rockstar nights will be nothing but a fantasy because it is no longer available. Someone call the wahhh-bulance.

2. Cuayana tunic; Living in Miami, bathing suit coverups and tunics are a way of life, especially in the summer. I kind of think this is why we don’t even give them a second look. Everyone has one, nothing special. However, this lovely one from Cuayana does not fit into that category. This linen beauty will not only suit the beaches (har har), but could do double duty as a pretty flirtatious dress for after hours if paired with some nude sky-high wedges and a high pony. Instant summer must have.

3. Batman cafetera; Something else that is part of Miami culture? The cafetera (coffee maker). Every home and office has one, and it’s basically necessary for daily survival. I mean, you’ve seen that episode of the Kardashians, right? It’s serious stuff, Cuban coffee, so naturally, it has to be made in a vessel of pure awesome. I think Batman will do the trick. In fact, the only way this could be any cooler was if it would beam the bat signal when your coffee was ready. Ideas: I got ‘em.

4. Lovers ring; This ring immediately reminds me of one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins lyrics: Carve out your heart for keeps in an old oak tree and hold me for goodbyes & whispered lullabies. We may not have enough old oak trees around to profess our love, but this sweet customizable ring will do. I think Billy would approve, don’t you think?

5. Ours decanter; I saw this adorable decanter while I was helping the bestie put together her wedding registry and I nearly died from cuteness overload. Leave it to Kate Spade to design something so adorable out of something so ordinary. I don’t care that we are no longer newlyweds. I think our marriage deserves some Katie.

Lovable Friday!

1. Comicbookgirl19; My husband turned me on to this incredible chick, and I am so glad he did. As her name suggests, she covers all things comics, as well as pop culture, but in such a relatable and fun way. I mean, she has a robot sidekick and bright pink hair. Shall I say more? No, but seriously, she has turned us on to a lot of new geeky stuff and has a killer Game of Thrones series. Check it out fellow fangirls (& boys).

2. Fabulous folding chairs; You know you have some scrubby ass folding chair buried somewhere in your house. It’s embarrassing, dirty and definitely not worthy of your kick ass decor. Well, this DIY is sure to change that! With a little patience, determination and a staple gun, you will be well on your way to making dem chairs fancy, gurl.

3. Yellow skirt; Another Pinterest ghost. I’m featuring way too many of these and it’s just not fair to you or to me, quite honestly, but I can’t help myself. I mean, look at that skirt. Look at that color pop! The scalloped slit! The amazing fit! How could any red-blooded girl resist? To me, it screams J.Crew. What do you Pinterest sleuths determine?

4. Omission gluten free beer; Let me get real for a second. Gluten free beer? It tastes disgusting. Real talk, people. Most of the time, I can stomach it, but this really unappetizing after taste remains. For awhile. An uncomfortable while. For that reason, I have stuck to wine for a long time now. But every now and then, I can’t handle everyone holding frosty beer mugs around me. The peer pressure is too strong and I want to be holding an ice cold beer myself. Well, those days are over. Omission gluten free beer is a craft beer – that’s right. I said BEER. It is made with all the stuff regular beer is made of: barley, hops, water and yeast. EXCEPT, it is brewed in such a way that it REMOVES all gluten making it safe for glutards like myself. This beer tastes like any craft beer should, and for that, I am thankful. Pick it up at Total Wine!

5. Kitty bangle; This precious kitty bangle is as adorable as it is overpriced! Despite it’s exaggerated price tag, I find myself needing it in the worst way. Have I mentioned I don’t particularly like cats (I’m actually super allergic)? Why am I drawn to this damn thing? Definite first world problems.

Hue-tastic Handbags!

Guys. Let’s be honest. You’ll have a way better time getting ready in the morning (or noon, day or night) if what you are putting on is fun. A great Pinterest quote comes to mind (snicker): Life is too short to wear boring clothes. And the same goes for this summer’s accessories. Am I right or am I right? Make sure to pump up your breezy and light outfits with a poppy pair of heels, a statement necklace or every girl’s best friend, a hue-tastic handbag!

1. Hella haute clutch; 2. Kelly basic satchel; 3. Asos clutch

1. Rabeanco Connaught; 2. Joelle Hawkens “Solstice Cosmic” foldover leather clutch

You know, all these bags are killer and all, but I cannot help myself. I had a physical reaction when I saw this AH-FREAKIN-MAZING lightning bolt clutch from boohoo.com. Like. I can’t. I need this every day of my life or I may literally suffocate knowing that I am void of such awesomeness. As if I haven’t made it clear, this is definitely on my birthday wishlist. Also: get me one in every color. Please and thank you.

I’m still hyperventilating.

Get 4th of July Ready!

The sun is blazing, the BBQ is smoking and the water is splashing. This means only one thing, people. Summer is here!!! It’s my all-time favorite season because living in Miami, this is when it really feels like paradise. Plus, I love me some bikini’s, boats & frozen drinks. Can you blame a girl?

Like I mentioned before, the past few weeks have been pretty dismal around here. All clouds, rainstorms and generally ugly weather. Could this be our summer? It was enough to put me in a depression. But no! This past weekend, the skies opened and the sun came out to play! I immediately shed my clothes, slapped on a bikini and jumped in my pool. And it was heaven. Here’s to many more beautiful Miami weekends – especially the 4th! We are hosting a pool party, and it got me thinking…what’s on your patriotic wishlist? Check out mine below;

1. Striped leggings
2. Stars denim shorts
3. Stars & Stripes muscle tee
4. Mini ban.do heart headband
5. J.Crew stars tank
6. Marc Jacobs bikini bottom

Lovable Friday!

1. Chartreuse heaven; yes, I may have named this beauty of a frock, but it’s for a good reason. It’s another one of these Pinterest ghosts! Why oh why! It even has my perfect dress trifecta: bright hue, flared skirt & open back. What a tease. I hate you, perfection dress.

2. Waves iPhone case; although I am a big fan of cheapy Ebay cases, every now and then I “splurge” on a regularly priced case. This would be one of them. I’m loving the scallops and the sweet shade of pink paired with the harsher wood texture.

3. Heart pumps; as if you haven’t noticed, I’m a big sucker for sparkles and hearts. In my hair, on my clothes and most especially, on my feet. I mean, does anything make you feel more special? I think not. Now, although my birthday isn’t for another month or so, I think these would make the perfect birthday girl shoes, don’t you think? Well, I’m sold. And check out the rest of the site too. Spool 72 has some of the sweetest inventory I have ever laid my eyes on (& some great sales)!

4. Anthropologie suit; if this suit was any cuter, it would ooze puppies and rainbows. I mean, seriously. Of course, I could no longer find it on the site, but I did do some digging and it popped up on Ebay for somewhat of a discount (although still super steep). I don’t own a one piece swimsuit, but I’d start a collection with this little retro beauty.

5. Mint & gold heels; you can tell that I have shoes on the brain. Truth is, I haven’t bought a new pair of shoes in months. Like, close to 6 months. Another truth? I may be walking around in flats whose soles are cracked. Maybe. That’s the kind of classy lady I am. In all honesty, I really do need to get some new shoes, but these wouldn’t be the most practical. Do I care? Nope. Must.have.

What I Wore: Sunday Funday

I live for my weekends, and this one lived up to the hype. The hubs and I spent some quality time together (& checked out Man of Steel – hubba, hubba Henry Cavill), and we had some great times with friends playing card games and drinking a whole lot of wine and eating some serious Spanish tapas. Knowing that we would be engaging in some legit hang time, I knew I had to dress comfortably. This maxi dress perfectly fits the bill because not only does it scream comfort, but it’s also super flattering. Plus I love the fun summer shade of coral paired with nude. In other words, it is the perfect summer uniform.

And more importantly, why do weekends fly by so fast?
Seriously, it’s not fair.

Lovable Friday!

1: Chalkboard polish; How on Earth could I not know about Ciate’s chalkboard paint polish??? Sephora states it’s a new item, so maybe I’m not that far behind the trend. I love that the set comes with its own nail pens to help you create your own unique patterns. Although school is over, this would make a great end of year gift for teachers, or just a gift for that special instructor in your life.

2: Colorful napkins; With all those summer parties in your very near future, you are going to need some sunshine-worthy kitchen accessories. In comes these gorgeous Anthropologie napkins in bold and fun colors and patterns. Serving, wiping and folding have never been more fun.

3: Confetti number cake topper; I’m a big fan of DIY cake toppers – it just adds that special something to birthdays, weddings, showers, etc. And this sweet little tutorial looks just perfect and seemingly easy. Definite birthday project!

4: High-waisted chevron swimsuit; Another adorable swimsuit with no original link. What gives, people? But seriously, this high-waisted chevron bikini is so perfect! I can imagine pairing it with a large, floppy hat, an ice cold piña colada and a relaxed state of mind {similar found here}.

5: Heart bowls; Talking about cute kitchen accessories – check this sweet bowl set out! I don’t know about you, but serving a nice healthy breakfast in one of these guys would make me way more apt to eat it. Just an idea, dieters.
