Lovable Friday

1. DIY Desk Organizer

For all of us that have an ::ahem:: love of writing instruments, it can tend to get out of hand. Case in point: I am currently looking at about 15 pens and pencils cluttering my supposed dining room table centerpiece tray. That is definitely not where they belong, and it is flat out embarrassing. That’s why I love this super easy DIY consisting of toilet paper rolls and an old shoe box. Hello! Adorable pen/pencil/marker holder that will no longer leave you ashamed in no time!

What I Wore: Stitch Fix

I love surprises. I think that’s why a service like Stitch Fix was so appealing. You fill out some basic information on their site, get assigned a stylist and you are sent a surprise package based on what you shared/requested. Although they weren’t always spot on, I just recently updated my profile and shared some additional information like my number one style icon (Zooey Deschanel, if you were wondering) and my fashion Pinterest board. I hoped this would help with the selections for my next fix, and it did! This dress was one of 5 great items I received (I’m sure you’ll see the others soon enough), and I fell in love! Although I am rocking a cast, I don’t think it’s an excuse to look a mess. Sure, I may have looked silly hobbling around in this cute little frock but at least I was doing it style. One thing I’m missing? Heels.

So.much.

Valentines Wish List

I don’t need much more reason to dress girly, so Valentine’s Day just puts me in overdrive. Heart patterns and sweet shades all around cause me to lose a little control. As for the holiday itself? I could do without. I’ve never really been a fan whether I was single or crazy in love. But that doesn’t mean I can’t dress the part! Plus, I heard the hubs is taking me to Michy’s this year. I can handle that. ;)

Here are some of my favorite v-day inspirations;

1. Anika Burke Heart Back Dress; 2. Anika Burke Heart Front Dress; 3. Heart Ring; 4. Ban.do mini hearts; 5. Mini glitter notebook

1. Smitten Sweater; 2. Glitter heart clutch; 3. je t’aime necklace; 4. Scalloped wedges; 5. Heart Sleeved Sweater; 6. Cross My Heart bobbi pin

Lovable Friday!

I am so so so so happy to have Lovable Friday back in action!!!! I love sharing all my most favorite things for the week with all of you and those things have definitely been piling up for the past 3 months.

1. Boo, You Whorecrux tee
Oh my Potter! I can’t even handle the amazingness of this tee right now. I love not only that it is a great Potter reference, but also an equally fantastic Mean Girls one. The two melded together might quite possibly be the best pairing ever. I obviously need this shirt for my next Wizarding World visit. Am I right, Potterheads??

Hi ladies & gents! It’s time again for a giveaway, and this is a good one!
One of my favorite online boutiques, Conversation Pieces, was sweet enough to give me a pair of their Slim Riding Pants in a size L & they are up for grabs! As stated on the site, these pants are butt shaping, thigh slimming and stomach-flattering – seriously, who wouldn’t want that trifecta?

Paint Pastel Princess

If anyone gets the reference to the above title, I will love you forever.

I am loving that although it is Winter in most parts of the country, pretty Spring pastels have taken over the world of fashion. Dainty mint, peach, and lavenders are sprinkling all my favorite online boutiques and I am loving it. I imagine wearing these hues while eating brunch with a water view and sipping on a mimosa. Pretty specific, huh? I miss the outside world, OK?

Here are some of my favorites that I’ve stumbled on recently;

1. Christian Siriano heels; 2. Brighton tank; 3. Colorblock shift dress; 4. Unicorn necklace; 5. Mint crossbody; 6. Ombre sweater

{Adventures in Pinteresting}: Chambray + Maxi

The moment I saw this pin, I knew I had to replicate it! Not only did it look great, but also comfy and appropriate for my current broken-foot-in-cast situation. I decided to wear it to take my certification exam b/c it would keep me warm in the frigid testing room and also keep me comfortable since I was going to be there for 4 hours in a cast. It worked great and made me still look fashionable (which is important after laying on a couch for a week feeling sorry for yourself). I also liked how the tied chambray shirt worked as an alternative to a belt by helping to accentuate a waist. I think I’m going to use & abuse a lot of maxi dresses for the remaining few weeks I will be casted. ;)

How Was Your Weekend?

Mine was eventful. And not in the way I would have liked. My hubby went away on a friends trip to New York City (I hate how studying continually gets in the way of me enjoying life – ugh), and I had big plans. Mainly involving studying and getting some items checked off my to-do list. Unfortunately, the universe had another idea.

I ended up fracturing my foot after playing with my dog (you notice that there are never good reasons for injuries?) late night Friday, and had to be put in a cast and crutches, which are not coming off for another month. It was very exciting. But since I always try to focus on the positive, here were some highlights;

We got a new chevron rug for our living room from Urban Outfitters on mega sale! I love it so much & it gives our space some new personality. Gwen also approves of it and told me she can’t wait to pee on it in the very near future (her new favorite past time). // The series finale of Fringe was amazing, was it not? I’m glad I watched it alone because I was sobbing like a fool. Favorite moment? You are my favorite thing. Heart strings = pulled.

My big, swollen foot unable to fit in my flippy floppies and killing my Miami Winter outfit. // Colorblocking manicure with Essie’s Cute As A Button & Pansy to brighten my limpy status.

Little things make me happier than brand new agendas. I’m still a dinosaur & don’t believe in using my phone to manage my schedule – I think it’s due to my paper goods obsession. // Speaking of paper goods, I found a great website where you can get really adorable drawer liners. I ordered a sample for our kitchen drawers & I absolutely love it!

My busted up foot in its cast. Basically what my life will look like for the next month.
2013, be better please.

What I Wore: Batman & Bows

Maybe those two things don’t go together for everyone, but for me? Why not! Batman enjoys glamor, does he not? Heh. Either way, I haven’t gotten dressed in normal clothes for 3 weeks now, so I jumped at the chance to have a mini-date with the hubs this past Sunday. Sure, it included washing our cars and buying nail polish, but we did sneak in some drinks & snacks at a local brewhouse. It was nice and a welcome change from my caged animal status. Great news? It will be over in a little over a week! That means more posts and more outfits to share. Everyone, rejoice! ;)

Golden Globes: Best & Worst

Welcome to awards season! Honestly, nothing gives me a thrill like live red carpet coverage. So much so that I took some time off of studying to totally indulge with wine (and laptop) in hand. I’m happy to say that there were definitely some stand outs, but unfortunately, there were a lot of wah wah moments as well. But you win some and you lose some, right?

Above are some of my highlights from the evening (l to r); Emily Blunt‘s gold sparkler // Lucy Liu‘s floral princess gown // Jessica Alba‘s coral mermaid // Michelle Dockery‘s gold & white slinky number.

But my absolute favorite of the night was…

Julianne Hough in a stunningly glittery and princess-like Monique Lhuillier. I know this dress isn’t for everyone, but I couldn’t love it more. It was so magical and festive (glitter! pouf!) – while still bringing in some edgy elements like her rockin’ hair (can someone please do this for me???) and tough accessories. I absolutely love the pairing and think it was perfect for the Golden Globes’ party-like atmosphere. Do you guys agree?
