Retail Therapy & NIVEA PDA kit winner!

I really don’t want to have to say this, but I do believe it may be a new feature on my blog. I’ve told myself I am on a spending freeze, but then I find myself doing the exact opposite. It’s just so hard to go without being a loyal consumer. Am I right, shopaholics?

I blame last week’s purchases on my lonely heart. You see, my hubs was out of town, so naturally I had to fill that void. With makeup and dresses of course. Makes sense right? I know.

I’ve been lusting after a beautiful shade of hot pink lipstick for a long time now, specifically Make Up For Ever’s #36.  However, at $20 a pop, I had to make sure I was ready to commit. So I had postponed the purchase. That is, until I found myself browsing the beauty section at my local Walgreen’s. I saw a similar shade from Revlon and decided to give it a go! Although it wasn’t as pigmented as I would have liked, it was a nice way to slowly transition into the world of colored lips (I never really wear lipstick). I also paired it with Revlon’s Colorburst in Hot Pink to give it a more glossy texture.

I also finally popped my Tobi cherry by ordering a really fun and sexy mini dress. I initially wanted the black & white zig zag pattern, but settled for this blue and coral tone. I’m so glad I did! It’s really fun and comfortable, although it’s a little shorter than I would normally rock a frock. I am not letting this discourage me though, as I plan to wear it to a bachelorette party and that’s what sexy dresses were made for, right? The bad thing is, I am now totally going to go bananas for all things Tobi. Why couldn’t it have been heinous and ill-fitting? That never happens.

Rocks Paper Metal!

Question is…does metal beat Spock? ;)

But in all seriousness, how adorable is the lovely Etsy shop, Rocks Paper Metal? I absolutely adore their bright and fun color palette and casually playful designs. And I’m definitely not the only one. The lovely ladies that comprise RPM (sweet moniker), Kat and Diana, were quick to fill me in that their hands are full. And they are not kidding. Each RPM piece is diligently hand made by one of them. Oh, to have these talents….

Thankfully, I come bearing good news! How would you like to get your hands on one of these pretties for a fraction of the price? Kat and Diana were sweet enough to partner up with the blog to offer all readers 15% off! All you have to do is type MELIFICENT at checkout. And as if that wasn’t good enough, you will also receive a little extra surprise in your package!

If you are more of the betting kind, try your luck at the lovely Fashionable ESQ‘s giveaway, where you can win a pair of Rocks Paper Metal earrings!

What I Wore: The Limited Jacket

Outerwear is so fun! I wish we could play with it more often down here in sunny South Florida, but unfortunately, we have two seasons: hot and Mordor. Thankfully, offices tend to be frigid cold so our office wear can include some layering action, which is where this comfy jacket from The Limited comes in! What I love the most about it is that it is very light, which means you can transition from office to happy hour without breaking too much of a sweat (unless you are downing some serious tequila shots). It can also be dressed up or dressed down – I decided to do somewhere in the middle. I am seriously addicted to pops of color. Please never go, trend. I think I love you.

1. PrettyPegs

I’m pretty sure if my furniture could speak, they would want new shoes. Confused? These pegs fit on most IKEA furniture and bring a little bit of flair, fun and youth to your pieces. Being a strong IKEA supporter, I would kind of love to have some for our soon to be new coffee table. After all, who am I to deny those I love a few new shoes.

Giveaway: {NIVEA PDA Kit}

Although I don’t focus too much on beauty products (although I really should – my skin needs it), the Million Moments of Touch campaign from NIVEA really spoke to me. The year-long program aims to get couples kissing, hugging and touching one again after getting a hunch that modern, fast–paced living was taking a toll on touch, intimacy and relationships. They commissioned a study to conduct research and obtain a deeper understanding and what they found was pretty eye-opening. What stood out the most for me was the fact that 57.2% of Americans say they touch their cell phones “always or quite a bit,” whereas 28.6% say they touch a family member and 16.7% say they touch their closest friend always or quite a bit. We literally touch our cell phones more than our loved ones. How scary and sad is that?

Plus, my beautiful and awesome friend, Rosa Cordero of Accidental Sexiness is their Latina Brand Ambassador! Way to represent, honey doll!

For that reason, I’d love to give you all their PDA kit, which includes:

– NIVEA Touch of Renewal lathering body scrub
– NIVEA Extended Moisture daily lotion
– NIVEA A Kiss of Vitamin Swirl lip care
– NIVEA for Men Energy face care gel moisturizer
– NIVEA for Men Relax body wash

To enter, just comment to this post with what makes you want to touch or get closer to someone. A week from today, 4/19, I will pick a winner at random! Good luck, readers!

What I Wore: Social Saturday

For being someone that adores color and brights, I have been deathly afraid to give color blocking a whirl. Maybe I fear that I will just take the idea and run with it. After all, once you give me access to color, I tend to turn into a crazy 6-year-old child. But, I had a lot of fun putting this one together. So much fun, in fact, that I may just try it again. ;)

I am in love with this airy blouse from Conversation Pieces. It is the perfect spring item to pair with a great pair of colored skinnies, which I did for a very busy Saturday with friends. I had to work in the morning, quickly followed by a girls lunch at Scotty’s Landing and then an amazing Panther game with more friends. I had to make sure I looked comfortable and cute, and this definitely fit the bill.

I added this fun nautical jacket for the hockey game, and I am so glad I did! It was absolutely freezing for this Miami girl, but the team’s amazing shots and nerve-wracking moments proved to provide a little warmth here and there.

1. Boston Terrier Pops

If there’s one thing I cannot deny, it’s my love of Boston Terriers. I can’t imagine saying no to a cake pop in their image. Could you? Highly doubtful. Although I’ve heard cake pops are horrifically difficult to make, I’d give these a go just based on the cuteness factor.

Wrist Candy

As you all know, on the top of my accessory wish list is plenty and plenty of beautiful wrist candy! I’m loving all the gorgeously piled bracelets I’m seeing on my favorite fashion bloggers and random Pinterest photos. They are just so playful and youthful. I think that if I had an arm full of color and whimsy, it would be impossible to not look down and smile multiple times during the day, am I right? Here are some of my favorites that I have stumbled on while surfing the Internets.

1. ASOS coloured cube bracelet – $8.06
2. ASOS retro skulls friendship bracelet – $21.49
3. Forever 21 lacquered wing bracelet – $6.80
4. ASOS pastel bunting bracelet – $14.32
5. Bauble Bar octagon initial bracelet – $50
6. Nasty Gal Leo zodiac bracelet – $48

Also, my birthday is only in 3 months, you know. ;)

What I Wore: The Limited Pants

Finding the right fit and style when shopping for work pants has to be the worst. Well, let’s face it. Shopping for pants period is not the most enjoyable thing in the world. That’s why I love the modern fit and flare of the Drew pants from The Limited. As you can see, they look great paired with some fun, bold heels (something I believe should always be a staple with boring work outfits – you need a punch) and are endlessly comfy. Plus, they seem to flatter many different body types, even my curvy Cuban hips! ;)

Something else you might be noticing is my new ‘do! I recently got some Zooey Deschanel-esque bangs and I love them (well, until they develop a mind of their own – coming soon, I’m sure)!

Parties aren’t the only ones that are being influenced by Suzanne Collins’ epic trilogy, the fashion world is also being inspired to pick up some bow and arrows and play along.  I’m not complaining. I personally want one of each of these lovelies, all found on Etsy, in case you are wondering. I am not beneath begging. ;)
