Sprightly: ShoeDazzle Review

I know I had already done a review for the ShoeDazzle service back when I received my first pair, but since I’ve been a member on the site for several months now, I thought my opinion would be more valuable this time around. I have to say that I have been pretty happy with the site. The older I get, the less time I want to spend in malls dealing with large quantities of frustrating people, so the fact that I can order a new pair of affordable and adorable shoes with just one click is so appealing. Plus, I was able to make some adjustments to my showroom and now am receiving way more fun selections, which was one of my main gripes.

Squeeworthy: Soft Watches

Watches are one of those accessories I love hoarding. You wouldn’t know it lately though, since I have been watch-less for several months. All my watches decided to poop out on me and I’ve been too lazy to replace their batteries, so I’ve been functioning without a watch for entirely too long. I tried to remedy the situation by finally getting my beautiful Betsey Johnson watch fitted, but was frustrated to find that not every jewelry store fixes products they don’t sell (annoying).

But then (!) I discovered a lovely website named Deal Pulp. Ladies, I totally recommend joining. Sure, it’s another one of those sale sites, but what I like about Deal Pulp is that it focuses mainly on accessories, and gives you promo codes for existing webstores or selects several items from one to feature at a (much) lower price on a daily basis. While perusing one of their daily emails featuring these deals, I saw one for Soft Watches! Those of you that follow me on Pinterest know that I had pinned these fun & simple watches to my wish list board. Wish, no longer!

1. Cambridge Satchel Co

Words cannot express how much I love these satchels. If money was not a concern, I’m pretty sure I would have one in every color (especially those festive neon colors). I’d love to splurge and pick one up for our upcoming Euro trip, but looks like I’ll have to settle to just admire (aka; drool) from afar. Which one would be my pick? The lovely classic in this vibrant kelly green.

Squeeworthy: Fall Booties

Fashion confession: I have thick legs. So thick that I often cannot fit in all those trendy, hot knee high boots. This has made me sad for a very long time. Sure, we don’t have a whole lot of “sweater weather” down here in Miami, but when we do, my footsies ache to wear a beautiful pair of boots. I guess you can blame it on the you always want what you can’t have theory. This is where booties come in to save the day – now these I can wear without a problem and they still have the look and feel of a good fall boot! Plus, they are more than appropriate for our tropical weather as they aren’t as intense as their taller counterparts. Here are some of my favorites that I have stumbled on the web:

What I Wore: Festivus

This past weekend we celebrated my hubs’ big 3-0. His birthday actually falls the week before we leave to Europe, but since it is such a milestone birthday, I didn’t want it to be something small and rushed due to the big trip taking over precedence. So we moved it up a month and invited all our friends to our pad for what would turn out to be one wild and crazy night complete with balloon-infested bouts of karaoke (look below for video evidence), shots of the KRAKEN and night swimming. Although I may have been harboring murderous thoughts about my nearest and dearest the next morning, I am so happy everyone came out to make his night so special. We are lucky to have some pretty cool people in our lives. Thanks for making this crazy ride called life so amazing, friends.

Since I was to be the hostess, I wanted to make sure I looked cute while still being able to play the part. I started off with a dress and really high booties (more on my bootie love later this week), but figured that wasn’t really practical. And I was totally right. That’s why I settled for this sweet little sailor meets Parisian outfit. I especially love the skirt – it is my most favorite in my closet due to comfort, the way it flatters the smallest part of my body and the fact that everyone always thinks it is a dress! I added some fun details like turning my awesome Ban.do shoe clips into a headband accessory and a very loud & glittery nail polish.

What I Wore: Date Nite

Since I am always looking for a good deal, I was overjoyed when the lovely Ms. Audrey of Conversation Pieces filled me in on her new project, Shop Speedy Girl. The idea behind the new site is that it can be considered kind of like a drive-thru fashion ATM. Every 24 hours, shoppers are offered 2 items at a special price within a 24hr period.  The merchandise is made up of current season styles from comparable mod and vintage fashion retailers, but at Shop Speedy Girl, customers can expect to pay up to 50% less. Yep, you heard right! How can you say no? I know I couldn’t – especially when I saw this adorable little cupcake-like dress. I thought it was absolutely perfect for a date night in the always humid South Florida. Its lightweight and breezy nature paired with the girly ruffles in pastel hues sealed the deal. Best part? The hubs’ reaction: “oh wow, do you look cute or what?

Find your perfectly priced prize on Shop Speedy Girl today!
Feel free to thank me later ;)

1. The Hunger Games Trilogy

I may be so late to this game, but I was lent the first book in the Hunger Games trilogy by a friend last week and I am so dunzo. In fact, I’m sure by the time this posts (in a couple of days), I’ll be done with the entire series. I’m currently on the last book, Mockingjay, since I basically annihilated my way through them. I don’t think I’ve ever been so addicted to a book series since I was a kid. I just can’t get enough of it. Katniss is such a positive role model for young girls – forget Bella Swan. This is true empowerment! And now I couldn’t be more excited for the film release in March – I totally see a gaggle of girls in matching Hunger Games fandom shirts. And I love it.

Squeeworthy: Dorothy Perkins

As if I need another reason to spend copious amounts of money shopping while I’m in London, I stumble upon this lovely site thanks to my evil mistress, Pinterest. Dorothy Perkins: land of perfect Melificent dresses. Seriously, I don’t know which beautifully classic, elegant, Audrey Hepburn inspired dress I want more. As if the website wasn’t tempting enough, I just google map-ed the nearest location to our flat while we are on vacation, and one lies merely a 5 minute walk away. I am so screwed.

What I Wore: Cousin Nite Out

We don’t get to spend too much quality time with our cousins (everyone is just so busy), so we jump at the chance when the opportunity arises! That happened this past weekend when we went to Merrick Park to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. We had a great time, had a little too much to drink, and laughed a whole lot. Basically, a wonderful evening. I wanted to look stylish, but didn’t want to go the dress route, mainly for comfort (I’ve been so lazy lately). This little outfit definitely did the job just right!

Lovable Friday!

1. Painted words as art

Like I’ve mentioned before, our walls are pretty bare in our home. It’s just so expensive to fill them up with nice, quality art. That’s why I’m such a huge fan of all these great wall art DIY’s going around, and I especially love this idea from Oh Happy Day. Who would have thought that writing your favorite quote using a paintbrush would look so elegant and refined? Both the hubs and I are big fans of simplicity and minimalism, so this project could not fit our style any more perfectly. This is one of those projects I’m definitely going to be attempting soon! Now to pick the quote…
