Lovable Friday!

Happy April Fools Day!
Hope you haven’t gotten pranked on too many times, my loves!

1. Comic Headband

Calling all nerds, I have found your staple headpiece! How cute is this comic book headband? I personally think it’s the perfect accessory for all those Comic Con attendees. And if I play my cards right, I just might be one of those lucky geeks in attendance this year (again)! If so, I’ll be grabbing myself one or two for the road. ;)

What I Wore | Baby Shower

I am always drawn to loose dresses – it’s my conflicting desire to both look feminine but be comfortable, I guess. I am aware they do not always flatter my figure (I have one, I swear. It’s under there!), but I can’t help myself. So naturally this pretty little plum number caught my eye while browsing through the new sale site, SeenOn. I was excited to be able to wear it for my friend’s baby shower this past weekend and had fun pairing it with some sky-high wedges and sparkly accessories. I had a great time at the party, but somehow managed to catch the bangles on the dress causing multiple tears. So upsetting! I hate when I damage clothes on the first wear. Why am I so accident prone!

1. Derby Lite

This concept is just killer. I am always looking for new, fun and unique ways to work out. Unfortunately, bobbing on an elliptical machine for 45 minutes just does not do it for me. I get bored and restless at about the 6 minute mark. Cue Derby Lite! It’s a workout based on roller derby, only without the aggressive hits. Each 2-hour workout includes off-skates conditioning, dynamic warm-ups, on-skates skills and drills, upper body strength exercises and cool-down stretching (aka; not boring). Unfortunately, Derby Lite is not offered in Miami (wah!), but you can submit a form requesting that your city be added. I did, and you should too!

What I Wore | St. Patrick’s Day

Since a few of you expressed that you didn’t want me to stop my outfit posts, I decided to occasionally feature one from time to time. It’s very time-consuming to make these kind of posts every day, so I totally give all my favorite fashion bloggers major props for the dedication.

But I digress.
On St. Patrick’s Day, I was inspired by the lovely Kendi and her recent jean stylings. I adored how she was able to pair exaggerated flares with a tucked in top; something I had never thought of doing…until now! I also attempted to rock the messy “sex hair” – AKA; I was too lazy to straighten my hair. Don’t know if I was able to pull it off though – I think it looked more like I needed to be gifted a brush.

Suits Me Just Fine

Being born and raised in Miami, a kid learns to feel as comfortable in a bathing suit as in their own PJ’s. I had my first bikini before I could walk, and my love for a good suit has not subsided. My goal for this summer is to spend more time at the beach (believe it or not, I have not laid on the sand for a very long time), and in our new pool (it’s getting a face lift sometime in the next couple of months), so it’s imperative for me to stock up on some new & hot bathing suits!

Winner of the Cupcakes & Mace Giveaway!

Congratulations to Ang! She is the winner of a Cupcakes & Mace unicorn necklace! Please email me with which color you would like your little horny beast to be (you can choose from here), and your mailing address. Squee!

Thanks to everyone who participated – I really enjoyed reading all your unicorn memories! I noticed a lot of you mentioned the 80’s film, Legend, and I thought I would share with you all that I have never seen it. I know. Complete sacrilege. All your posts about it definitely has made me want to change that sooner than later though.

Thanks again & I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday! :)

Lovable Friday!

1. H&M striped dress

How perfectly Spring is this dress? It really makes me want to kick H&M in the rear for not having a South Florida store (although that will change in 2012) or a US online store (also changing in 2012). This gorgeous little number is only $30, ladies. THIR-TY. I pay more for gas weekly. Sometimes life just isn’t fair.

GIVEAWAY: Cupcakes & Mace Unicorn Necklace!

I’ve been a big fan of the Cupcakes and Mace (what a great name) Etsy shop for awhile now, and have ordered a few fun necklaces from them. I’m sure if you haven’t seen me raving about my own purchases, you have seen at least one, two or twelve Lovable Fridays featuring these cute and original pieces. I love how bright, kitschy and fun their accessories are with such attention to detail. Crafter extraordinaire and shop owner, Kim, is a total doll and decided to team up with me to give away one of my favorite items in her shop: the unicorn necklace!

Honestly, who wouldn’t want the coolest mythical beast (ok, so maybe tied with dragons…) around their neck? Plus, you can choose from a cornucopia of colors for your horny creature (had to, sorry) to make it more personalized.

Ready to enter?

1 – Leave a comment on this post detailing your favorite unicorn memory.
Mine? The 1982 film, The Last Unicorn. I was obsessed.
2 – Follow Cupcakes and Mace on Facebook!

Good luck everyone!

Oscars 2011 Fashion Recap

How cute was Anne Hathaway as host last night?? As for Mr. Franco, he was a little….off? OK, so I’m pretty sure he was hitting the ganja during commercial breaks. But they were both pretty adorable nevertheless. I also really loved the younger, hipper vibe of the awards and thought the night had some pretty special moments (OMGz, Trent Reznor won an Oscar!).

And now on to the good stuff! The fashion!

I was loving all the lavender on the red carpet, especially Cate Blanchett’s perfectly quirky gown with its bits of chartreuse beading. I though it was so perfect. I know a lot of people weren’t feeling it, but I so was. Then again, I’m pretty sure Cate can’t do any wrong. Mila looked absolutely stunning in her sexy, yet demure number and her bestie, Natalie Portman was wearing a darker shade of purple that was equally gorgeous. Anne Hathaway looked so old Hollywood glam in her show-stopping red gown, and finally Gwyneth looked like a modern day Oscar statuette herself in that beautiful slinky gold gown. Pure perfection, ladies!

Not many on my worst dressed list this year, but these two had enough ugly to fill 10 slots. Oh, Nicole Kidman, why. The dress kind of reminds me of long weekends in Pompano Beach as a child in cheap Ramada Inn’s. I swear this dress has the same pattern as those terrible bath towels. No, no, and no. And as for you, Marisa. I just have two words: Jessica McClintock and possibly another two: Senior Prom.

Also, another trend I noticed that I didn’t dig: men sans grooming. I saw so many hot men that seemingly forgot to shave for one of the biggest nights in Hollywood (I’m looking at you, Christian Bale). Don’t get me wrong, I love facial hair. I just believe it has to be groomed appropriately. Boys, just look to Hugh Jackman for reference. Please and thank you.

So who do you think took the titles of best and worst dressed? Let me know in the comments if you agreed with me or disagreed!
