Squeeworthy: Clinique’s Moisture Surge CC Cream

I can’t get enough of Clinique’s new moisture surge CC cream. It’s an instant complexion perfector designed to enhance skin’s natural radiance while leaving it hydrated and protected with SPF 30. I’ve been using it for the past week and it is my new favorite beauty product. Why? Well, my job requires me to drive all around the city of Miami working with children. That means a full face of makeup is just not practical, but at the same time, I want to look presentable. The CC cream helps neutralize my blotchy redness and leaves it more radiant and dewy (without looking greasy).  Plus, it keeps my ridiculously fair skin not only protected, but also healthy due to its antioxidants, such as Vitamin E.

But a picture is worth a thousand words, right? I decided to be fearless and post a picture of myself with a completely bare face right after a shower to illustrate how great the improvement was when I used CC cream;

Amazing, right? If you are as impressed as I am, mark your calendars ladies! This new product launches next month in April.

MIAMI: Beauty Happy Hour

Although I can’t make it to this incredible event today at Aventura mall – you all definitely should take advantage! Head over to the Bloomie’s cosmetics department and participate in their beauty happy hour where you will be pampered by beauty professionals. That means that from 5-8pm you’ll be able to treat that mane of yours to complimentary braids, knots and curls from Blo Dry Bar Midtown and get your grub on with some sweets. Don’t forget to browse through the merchandise either because if you spend $100 or more you can pick up an exclusive makeup case in your choice of a fun, spring color!

But superficiality & retail therapy aside, Bloomingdales will be making a donation of $20,000 to Autism Speaks in honor of Florida Charity Day. As you all know, that is a cause near and dear to my heart, so make sure you head out there and show your support.

How Was Your Weekend?

Mine was eventful. And not in the way I would have liked. My hubby went away on a friends trip to New York City (I hate how studying continually gets in the way of me enjoying life – ugh), and I had big plans. Mainly involving studying and getting some items checked off my to-do list. Unfortunately, the universe had another idea.

I ended up fracturing my foot after playing with my dog (you notice that there are never good reasons for injuries?) late night Friday, and had to be put in a cast and crutches, which are not coming off for another month. It was very exciting. But since I always try to focus on the positive, here were some highlights;

We got a new chevron rug for our living room from Urban Outfitters on mega sale! I love it so much & it gives our space some new personality. Gwen also approves of it and told me she can’t wait to pee on it in the very near future (her new favorite past time). // The series finale of Fringe was amazing, was it not? I’m glad I watched it alone because I was sobbing like a fool. Favorite moment? You are my favorite thing. Heart strings = pulled.

My big, swollen foot unable to fit in my flippy floppies and killing my Miami Winter outfit. // Colorblocking manicure with Essie’s Cute As A Button & Pansy to brighten my limpy status.

Little things make me happier than brand new agendas. I’m still a dinosaur & don’t believe in using my phone to manage my schedule – I think it’s due to my paper goods obsession. // Speaking of paper goods, I found a great website where you can get really adorable drawer liners. I ordered a sample for our kitchen drawers & I absolutely love it!

My busted up foot in its cast. Basically what my life will look like for the next month.
2013, be better please.

What I Wore: Football Wife

I got an invite for this new website a few weeks ago called, funny enough, GetAnInvite. It stated that if I signed up and checked off my preferences for events, such as sports, concerts and theater, I would be given the opportunity to get free or nearly free tickets to each based on availability. Let’s just say I thought it was a scam, but I signed up anyways. I like to not be so negative sometimes. ;) Only a few days later, I received an email saying that I was eligible for $6 Miami Dolphins tickets complete with sideline passes. Um, what??? I immediately snagged a pair and for $12, we were able to have a pretty ridiculous date day at the game right on the field with our own lounge that included free food, a bar and private bathrooms. WHAT. I could definitely like football if I experienced it like this.

So, in other words, I suggest you all sign up for this website. I was in no way, shape or form asked to advertise for them – I just think the concept is fantastic!!! It’s nice to be able to experience events you otherwise would have never had the opportunity to – especially with such a sweet price tag (or lack there of). With that said, I had not been to a football game in over a decade, so this was my idea of a good game day outfit and toting a little Sofia Mini was also my idea of tailgating. I have a long way to go, don’t I?

What I Wore: A Little Naughty & a Little Nice

I love pairing together things that really shouldn’t go together in the first place. Case in point: our wedding. It was held at the Ancient Spanish Monastery, which, well….is ancient and very old world. I paired this venue with very modern decor to create that sharp contrast. I kind of like to do that all the time, so fashion is no exception. That’s why when I finally secured an awesome leather skirt, I wanted to pair it with something dainty and feminine. I like to think that I came to be this way because it kind of describes me: a rock and roll chick that digs pink. Wait. Did I just create a catch phrase for myself? Score.

What I Wore: The Ballet

I know I said I wouldn’t be back until the new year, but this outfit got a lot of love on my Instagram, so I figured it would make for a good end of year post. Plus, you all know I can’t stay away too long from the blog. It’s a weakness. I hope you all had a fantastic past couple of days with those you love the most!

My Christmas present this year was very simple(ish). I just wanted to be taken out on a romantic date to dinner and a ballet. Namely, The Nutcracker. I hadn’t been since I was a kid, and I’m a sucker for holiday traditions. I’d love for it to be one of ours, and eventually our children. The hubs pulled out all the stops and made me feel like a very lucky wife, which honestly, is a feeling I experience quite often. With that said, I knew this was one of the few occasions where I would be able to rock a sequined dress, so I took full advantage. I just didn’t think my (amazing) dress would come from Forever 21! It was a Christmas miracle. ;)

Squeeworthy: Caress Passionate Spell™ Fine Fragrance Elixir Body Wash

My husband always makes fun of the amount of time I spend in the shower. It’s just my happy place. I enjoy going over everything that happened throughout the day, what I need to do for the next and ultimately, relaxing. That’s why I can really appreciate a good body wash. I am always looking for one that not only smells good in the shower, but also out. After all, that’s what’s important, right? That’s why I love Caress’ new line of fine fragrance elixir body washes. I was lucky enough to try out Passionate Spell, which is a mixture of passion fruit and orange rose, and without a doubt, this stuff smells GOOD. How good? Let’s just suffice it to say that as I was washing out my pouf afterwards, I noticed there was enough for a second round and went for it!

And it passed the ultimate test when I got out of the shower. You know the one I’m talking about, ladies. The near impossible feat of getting your dude to spontaneously sniff you and say, “you smell nice!” This one’s a winner. And for more beauty advice and tips updated weekly, check out Caress’ new band of fabulistas, made up of  celeb style maven June Ambrose, YouTube beauty super vlogger Sonia Castaneda and lifestyle expert Lilliana Vazquez.

#StockingStufferSwap Reveal w/ Jessica

When I heard from my lovely friend Terri of Delightfully Darling that there was going to be a blogger Secret Santa of sorts hosted by herself and Amy of At The Pink of Perfection, I jumped at the opportunity to join! I love giving gifts even more than receiving them, so I had a great time picking out some fun and unique items for my partner, Jessica, whom you can find over at The Jessica L Blog. The idea was definitely a sweet one and I hope to participate in similar projects in the future – it’s such a fun way to get to know new (to me) bloggers.

So what was my swag?
A new cosmetics bag (desperately needed one of those); lip gloss; compact mirror & a set of glitter polishes, which I  cannot wait to test drive for some fun holiday manicures! Make sure to check out Jessica’s blog for her post on the items I sent her, and big thanks again to the ladies that put this all together!

Edit; check out my fresh & sparkly mani using one of Jessica’s sparkly polishes (paired with Essie’s Mojito Madness):

Sparkle Plenty

Smarter words have never been spoken. Am I right, ladies?
Although I live by the standard that every day is a good day to wear sparkles, I know this time of year is especially reserved for them. So here is a round up of all my favorite glittery, sequin-y, and sparkly goods (whether you want to splurge or save):

1 Chevron Sequin Mini Skirt; 2 Sequin Scatter Prom Dress; 3 Kate Spade Charm Heel; 4 Striped Sequin Scarf

5 Sequin Pencil Skirt; 6 Gina Sequin Maxi Skirt; 7 Infinity Crop; 8 Polka Dot Sequin Top

What shiny thing have you been laying your eyes on this holiday season?

Turkey Coma

I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend! Mine was full of good food and even better company, which is always appreciated. Although I am spending the majority of my time studying and working entirely too hard, it really feels like the holidays this year and gasp(!!) I am actually not loathing them! Who woulda thunk it. ;)

I hope to have some more content in the weeks to come but for now feast your eyes on my new haircut! Although I know my hair looked great long, I could no longer stomach the upkeep especially now that I am so busy. I needed something cute & easy, and as usual, my hairdresser did not lead me astray.

What do you think?
