Hunting Season

dec430x300

So I think it’s pretty safe to put it out to the blogosphere now: the hubs & I are actively house hunting! We are excited, being first time home buyers, but I have to admit it’s been frustrating as well. Just recently, we fell in love with what seemed like “the perfect house” – you know those. The ones you can already imagine yourself in, your kids running around, sharing special life moments, etc. That was the one. And unfortunately it had a contract already pending. Just seems like that is always the case with the places we love – someone has gotten to them first!

But we now have our eyes on a definite fixer-upper. I’m having “my people” swing by with me next week to check out how serious the renovations would be and if it would be worth it. Although some people would shudder at the thought, I think both the hubs and I would do great building up a home from scratch. It just has so much potential. I really hope it works out. But, I guess if it doesn’t – there will always be another home begging to be the next Casa Sanchez.

Look forward to more fun house posts as we get deeper & deeper into the hunt & hopefully closer to closing on our very first home!

Yay, Meli! It is very exciting. But as hard as it is, try not to get too emotional about a house. House hunting is a rollercoaster and it doesn’t end until you actually close, lol.

Well, actually, then the constant trips to Home Depot begin, lol.

SO excited for you guys! I know you’ll fill whatever place you find w/ so much love!

Meli, CONGRATS! I think it’s the best part of the process! Walking into a house, seeing other people’s stuff and replacing it with yours in your head, or walking into an empty fixer-upper, envisioning additions and remodels! Keep your mind open but narrow your search down to specifics. Must-haves ie. pool, min. bedrooms, lot size, area. Be picky, there’s plenty out there! Take drives around the city, roll the windows down, and see which areas have “the feeling”. I’m so excited for you! If you need help lemme know!

Thanks so much, girls! I am excited and very nervous. It’s a short sale so if we place an offer, I don’t know how long they will take to get back to us. Nerve-racking, I tell ya!

    Are you staying in Miami?

Yeah, we are going to stay here :)
