Comic-Con Recap: Thursday

Hello everyone!
I’m back in the good ‘ol MIA, but so so sad to say that my Comic-Con adventure is over. The 4 days flew by in a whirlwind of madness. I have never slept or eaten so little in my life. And I have never been happier. It was truly the best birthday I have ever had.

I was considering just making one epic Comic-Con recap post, but it would be too content heavy. So I decided to spread out the posts by day. Today? Thursday.

Thursday was a very very long day. We flew out at 6am and had some flight delays along the way causing us to land in San Diego about an hour later than we expected. Figuring we would pick up our rental car and be on our way to the hotel pretty smoothly, we weren’t too concerned. Until we pulled up to Avis. It was a 45 minute wait just to pick up our car, which they blamed on Comic-Con, but I honestly did not see any attendees in the line. Let’s just say it was some definite foreshadowing!

Once we had packed up our car, we were on our way to the hotel. Unfortunately, we couldn’t check in just yet so we decided to just head out to the Convention Center instead. Whoa. Sensory overload does not begin to describe it! Thankfully, since it was mid-afternoon now, we were able to find parking in the convention’s garage and pick up our badges without any difficulties whatsoever. However, once inside, it was complete madness. The exhibition hall was slammed with people! There were elaborate booths galore wherever you turned, it was just too much to take in all at once!

We made our way around the exhibition hall and tried using the Comic-Con iPhone application (which sucked btw) as best as we could, but we probably only got through 1/4th of the area. I tried to attend the Dexter panel, but the line was ridiculously epic so we decided to cut our losses and move on. One pretty amazing moment was when we were walking through the exhibit hall and I saw Brea Grant from Heroes! Unfortunately, she was doing a signing that required a ticket (that I did not have) so I couldn’t meet her, but I did snap a quick photo of her before moving on (she is absolutely tiny & adorable in person).

Before we knew it, they were closing the exhibit hall and kicking us out. And that is how our first day ended. Boring, I know, but we didn’t have much time and were completely jet lagged. We decided to not go out and hit the hay relatively early to prepare for Friday and all our scheduled panels. Let’s just say I didn’t know what was in store for me the next couple of days…

What to look forward to tomorrow:
– our 1st celeb run in!
– Coraline panel
– Flash Forward panel
– 9 panel
– District-9 panel
– Bear McCreary Battlestar Galactica concert
