First off, I’d like to express how wonderful 2-day weeks are. I vote for all weeks consisting of only 2 work days. Who is with me? Anyways, Friday meant it was time for happy hour with my girls and we decided to try a new place: Morton’s Steakhouse. The food was great but the crowd was not. We were the youngest people in that bar and not just by a couple of years. After a couple of drinks and appetizers, we headed to our usual hangout: The Bar in Coral Gables. We played some Scrabble and caught up with a couple of old friends. It was nice & relaxing & a great way to kick off the weekend.

Saturday was my birthday celebration at Abraxas Lounge! This place is kind of a hidden gem on South Beach that could not go more against the typical scene. The walls are covered in Rock & Roll memorabilia, the stereo is blasting an amazing playlist that sounds eerily similar to the one on my ipod and the beer list is ridiculously huge & impressive. Best (worst?) part? It’s always empty! It was a hit with all my friends and we really drummed up business: they had to bring in an extra bartender and I single handedly cleared out two of their beer selections (Dead Guy Ale & Hoegaarden, if you must know). My friends were amazing – so many people showed up! And I got some pretty thoughtful presents. After awhile, we moved on to Automatic Slims for some more drinking and dancing. I had a ball and apparently made some new friends. Definitely made me feel a little less depressed about being in my late 20’s.
