I know to some of you this might seem like it is coming from left field, but I’ve had a pretty big crush on Daniel Johns since I was 14. All my high school friends will surely remember (in embarrassment). I think we celebrated Dan’s birthday by going to Outback Steakhouse and made him a pretty huge birthday card that my friend Janelle delivered to “his people” when she went to the Silverchair concert when we were sophomores (I wasn’t allowed to go – more about that later). Ah, those were the times.
But for those of you that are unfamiliar with Mr. Johns, I’ll fill you in. Dan is the lead singer for the Australian rock band, Silverchair. They were huge here in the U.S. during the mid-90’s and were grouped with other grunge groups such as Bush who were deemed to be Nirvana rip-off’s. However, they kind of lost popularity here in the states as time went by but, contrary to popular belief, they still make music and are still extremely popular in Australia. So for those of you that thought they only had Frogstomp under their belt, do your research! Their most recent album is Young Modern and it was just announced a few weeks ago that they have returned to the studio to record their next album, which I couldn’t be more excited about. Unfortunately, they have only come to South Florida once and I was a measley 15. At that point, I couldn’t attend concerts if they weren’t in Miami (they performed in Ft. Lauderdale) so I couldn’t go. It devastated me and they have never returned. I got super excited when I saw that they were going to be opening for Jimmy Eat World (weird pairing) and playing at Orlando’s House of Blues a couple of years ago. Augi and I were ready to pack our bags when we realized we were going to be on our honeymoon! Silverchair is truly one of the only bands that I adore that I have not been able to see live and it drives me bananas! I hope one of these days they decide to broaden their touring schedules to include South Florida…
Wow, that was a long intro. I’ll shut my trap now and give you what you really want: the photos!

Glad to see he’s kicked that eating disorder to the curb – check out the hot bod!

This picture would have made 15-year-old me melt into a puddle.
Love these boys.
