My Summer Essentials

I adore summer. Not only does it bring my birthday, but it means lighter & breezier clothes and a more laid back attitude. Let’s face it, us Miami girls know how to do this time of year right, and I’m loving all the options this season to both have fun and act your age. I figured it had been a while since I had put together a style collage, so here you go! Two very different looks for two very different vibes: fun, flirty and spontaneous & edgy, sexy and mysterious.

Best part? I’ve constructed both looks to be extremely budget friendly! This gives you more cash in your bank account to put towards that vacation to your favorite sunny destination!

Edgy look;
F21 tank; Old Navy maxi skirt; Go Jane sandals; name plate necklace; floppy sun hat; Essie’s No More Film

Fun look;
Chevron romper; Go Jane wedges; triad necklace; chevron stackable rings; Essie’s Bachelorette Bash

Happy Hump Day: Channing Tatum

So I haven’t heard much about this guy, except that he is going to be in this movie about a bunch of really hot male strippers. I think it’s called Magic Mike? Yeah, call me crazy but I don’t think that flick is going to do very well. At all. Am I right? ;)

ps; Before everyone attempts to pierce my head with a stake, all that was sarcasm. Although I don’t plan on spending cold hard cash on it at the theater, I look forward to a future girls night when it’s on Netflix. Forecast: lots of squeeing.

What I Wore: Impromptu Getaway

Although my week had a lot of high’s, there were quite a few low’s as well. It was stressful and I was pretty sure the end was nowhere in sight, so when the light that was Friday evening strolled around, I was ready to just relax. I had mentioned on Facebook that I wanted to lay out on a beach and do nothing, but I knew that wasn’t going to be possible. I had a lot of things on my agenda for the weekend, basically leaving me no time to just sit back and relax so I decided to take things into my own hands. Sometimes what you really need to do is cancel all your plans and take an impromptu mental health day. And I did just that.

I grabbed the hubs, we piled into the Cube and we made our way down to The Florida Keys. It was a gorgeous day, and we spent it admiring the scenery, looking at boats we will never be able to afford, drinking girly drinks (yum) and eating seafood (lobster to be exact – double yum) while ocean side. It was a beautiful and perfect escape – I highly recommend doing the same every now and then. Life is too short to not sit back and enjoy it sometimes.

Two Babes instead of one hottie

Although there is no hump day hottie today (sniff), I wanted to share some other lovables. Mainly, that you should all check out & follow my side project with the lovely Rosy of Accidental Sexiness, The Blogalicious Babes. We will be recording our first vlog this weekend (squee) & have this fun teaser trailer out for your viewing pleasure:

Even better is that we just got word that we will be covering this year’s San Diego Comic Con as press! I’m so excited to do some interviews with my favorite cast members and especially to bring a fun daily vlog to you all straight from the source! I’m also going to be taking pictures of great street style throughout the event and sharing them with all of you right here on Melificent! And don’t worry, there will still be a lot of content while I’m gone – the fabulous Aurora will be guest blogging for the entire week!

With that said, I hope you all have a great Wednesday!

What I Wore: Stripes! Color!

I love me some color, and I love me some affordable clothes. So needless to say, I had to buy something with my discount for joining the Sheinside site. I loved one dress in particular that was being advertised by what I imagine to be a fashion blogger. It was a cute and colorful striped dress that just screamed summer to me, so naturally I had to have it. I should have known it would fit me like more of a tunic top than a shirt dress – blame these Cuban hips. However, despite the too-short-ness (love making up words), it’s still absolutely adorable. I think I like wearing such bright colors because it is nearly impossible to be in or stay in a bad mood when you are wearing something so vibrant and fun. It’s like wearing happy, and who doesn’t want that?

Gimme a sec…

We had two very amazing house guests over the weekend, so you are going to have to forgive me this week. In fact, you may know them! Have you heard of the little blog they call The Great Discontent? If you haven’t, definitely check it out. It’s a very inspiring little spot on the Interwebs run by a truly fabulous couple.

Blog posts may be a little anemic, but I promise the quality will make up for the quantity!

ps; In case you are wondering, this is us swoop-swooping on South Beach!

Lovable Friday!

1. Place cards

Although this looks like it would be extremely tedious to put together, I can’t help but love these DIY pop up place cards. I think the secret is to keep this DIY to a small party with few guests to reduce the painstaking process of using an Exacto knife to cut out all names (am I the only one that is Exacto knife challenged?). Girls brunch? Bridal shower? Date night at home? Definitely a cute added touch that will make people smile.

Taste Nirvana Coconut Water

It’s no secret that I love coconut water. I became hooked last summer, and haven’t been able to kick the habit. Nor do I want to. It’s so good for you and your body. That’s why I was really excited to get some Taste Nirvana coconut water to try and review. The family-owned company boasts an all natural product, complete with eco-friendly glass bottle and no sugar or preservatives added. Something I noticed right away while drinking it was that it did not have a tart after taste like most other coconut waters. Reason being that these come from the coconut plantations of Thailand, not Brazil where the majority of coconut waters do, making it naturally sweeter with more fragrant coconut nose. And it is good. It is beyond refreshing – perfect for a trip to the beach or just relaxing by the pool (honestly, I don’t even need a reason). Plus, how could you deny a bottle of this stuff when it is branded as “happiness in a bottle?”

Melificent disclosure: Company provided me with the product in return for review above. However, all opinions are my own.
