Weekend Highlights

So I’ve been aching to see Black Swan since teasers first started to pop up around the web several months back. I waited patiently throughout the limited release (Miami was not included) but I could no longer wait when it was finally open nationwide. The hubs and I decided to have a date night, stopping at The Pasta Factory first for dinner (yums) and then headed to the theater. Wowza. I thought the flick was amazing – I especially loved the way it was filmed: so raw and gritty. Natalie Portman was spectacular. She really embodied the role of what I believe was a paranoid schizophrenic hell bent on being perfect at her craft. So hell bent that she embodied her character, in some pretty interesting ways. As my husband put it, this movie is not for everyone as it can get pretty intense, but I think it was truly a work of art.

Sunday’s magical afternoon date came as a fluke. We were driving nearby our home to grab some quick lunch, when we noticed that the U-Pick field was finally open again after its 6 month hiatus. We decided to head on over there afterwards to pick some fresh flowers for the house and some vegetables for dinner this week. It was a great experience. We casually strolled around (in the absolutely beautiful mild weather), taking photos and gawking at all the fresh produce. I cannot be happier to have something like this literally walking (or biking!) distance from our home. I hope to make it a Sanchez family weekend tradition!

My brother was able to watch it because it opened near him and he really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to watch it myself! Your U-Pick sounds amazing. I wish we had something like that here.

I’m so glad you mentioned the upick is open. I’ve been wanting to go forever.
I can’t wait to see Black Swan too!

Seriously, how great was Black Swan? The more I think about it, the better it gets. Kim and I both left the theater pretty stunned, then just sat there talking about it for ages. That’s a mark of a great film! Plus I really don’t think I’ve ever seen Natalie Portman give a better performance. Love.
