Weekend Highlights

3/11 is not only 311 day (!!!), but also my mother and brother-in-law’s birthdays. Friday night we celebrated their birthdays at my sister’s house, and just had a generally good time with family. I personally loved my adorable outfit that night, but unfortunately, I forgot to take a quick full-length shot for the blog. Oops!

Saturday night, the 90’s never died. My friend, Bonnie, and I went to the Magic City Casino to see the Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray show. Yeah, you read right. How could I resist? We had such a good time going back in time via music – Gin Blossoms were ridiculous, in a great way. They teased that at this point in their career, they would play anywhere. Don’t joke, ‘Blossoms. I do have a birthday coming up ;)

Sugar Ray came up next and we were torn. I loved it when they were playing their hits, but in between songs, they would start blasting other people’s tracks over the PA. Like Journey and Guns ‘N Roses. Um, what? I didn’t know if it was because Mark McGrath needed to rest his voice or they just didn’t have enough material to fill the hour? It was really strange. That, in addition to Mark’s awkward onstage banter made all the interludes unbearable.

But, I was very impressed with the new and improved amphitheater. It was great – not a bad seat in the house! And if they continue to get some great old school 90’s bands, it’s gonna be my new hang. However, if it is to be my new hang, the bartenders better get on the ball. We waited at the bar for 20 minutes before anyone served us. Totally ridiculous. Then once I got my 2 Appletini’s, they were in plastic cups that were only filled up half way. You don’t mess with this girl and her liquor. Tsk tsk.

We finished the night at South Beach at a new rock club on Washington and 13th Ave: The Rock Shop. It was wonderful and not the kind of place you would find down here. We danced around to Nine Inch Nails, Weezer and Foo Fighters just to name a few. Plus, there is no cover and drinks are $5. And the bartenders are pretty cute – what’s not to love? ;)

Hope everyone has a great week – as for me? I’m on SPRING BREAK!
Hoping to enjoy some quality beach and friend time!
