Lovable Friday has been infiltrated today in order to bring you a full report from the Kings of Leon concert last night at the BankUnited Center in Miami. I hope you all don’t mind considering this is my second Friday in a row that I don’t present you with a list of lovable goodies. ;)

Like I said in yesterday’s post, I am no stranger to seeing Kings of Leon perform live but seeing a headlining tour was a whole different animal. The boys really brought it to the stage and were absolutely mind-blowing. The amount of energy and charisma that these 4 have is amazing. They played the best from their musical roster: Fans, Taper Jean Girl, Crawl, Be Somebody, etc. My personal favorite moment of the night had to be the really emotional performance of Milk, one of my favorite songs by the band, and a tune I didn’t expect them to play while on tour. Another great moment was seeing the crowd go absolutely buck wild for Sex on Fire – I guess I’m not the only fan that considers it their favorite! My only complaint was the absence of Ragoo from the set list – am I the only one that could listen to that song over and over again for weeks?

Concert Season: Kings of Leon

148772_kings-of-leon4

Today marks the beginning of my “concert season.” After today, I will have about 1 to 2 concerts a week leading right into the first week of June and I couldn’t be more excited. The thought of having a show every week really makes my work days go by faster! So look forward to a lot of concert giddiness as well as reviews coming up the entire month of May here on the blog.

Tonight I’ll be seeing Kings of Leon at the BankUnited Center. This is my second time seeing them live – they opened for Pearl Jam last summer and I was blown away. I was already a fan, but seeing how amazing they were in concert made me even more so. To me, they represent good old rock & roll and I really don’t believe there is enough of that out in the music scene right now. I couldn’t be happier to see them headlining their own shows in relatively large venues – the 4/5 songs I heard them play when they were openers definitely was not enough. So I’ll be strapping on my dance shoes tonight in preparation for what I know is going to be a great & extremely energetic show from the boys.

For those of you not familiar with the band, check out the video for their newest single (and one of my favorite songs of theirs), Sex on Fire:

If you are also making it out to the show tonight & happen to have floor tickets as well, maybe we’ll share a dance or two ;)

Happy Hump Day: Ryan Reynolds

ryan1

I have had a long-standing love affair with Ryan Reynolds for a while now (thus, the long-standing). I think I first fell in love when he was in Van Wilder mostly because of his abs (wink). I figured he would be a good candidate for this week’s hump since Wolverine is killing it in the box office and Mr. Reynolds plays Deadpool in the film. He’s been making his rounds on late night TV, so make sure you keep your eyes and ears peeled for his next appearance. If you haven’t already, check out Accidental Sexiness for his most recent (& hilarious) appearance on Craig Ferguson.

Project 365

project365_uploadsize

For those of you not familiar with this photo project, Project 365 challenges participants to take a photo a day for a year. I’ve tried to start this project 3 times now and have been unsuccessful. However, with the birth of this blog and the constant nagging of my friends, I have decided to pick it up for the 4th time and restrict it to only self-portraits. I really hope I am able to complete it this time around because I’ve always marveled at completed projects on Flickr. It is amazing to see a year of someone’s life illustrated in pictures.

I am currently on day 12 and although I am only armed with a small Canon point & shoot, I am doing my best and have been consistent! Hopefully this will push me to be more creative, something I’m always craving. If you want to keep up with my Project 365, you can visit my Flickr set. However, I’ll be posting mosaics of my photos monthly here on the blog. I’m hoping by doing so, it’ll help keep me motivated!

So what do all of you think? Like the idea? Have you ever attempted your own Project 365?

ps; Happy Cinco de Mayo!! Have a margarita (or two, or three) on me tonight!

Weekend Highlights: Star Trek edition

sat3494532457_9d889cf8d7

All the stars aligned on Friday afternoon, when my good friend Aurora (check out her great cocktail reviews on Miami.com) gave me a call. The last thing I expected her to tell me was that she had an extra advanced screening pass for two to see Star Trek Saturday morning, but she did. Needless to say, both Augi and I shifted our schedules to be able to make this happen!

We got to Sunset Place two hours early to ensure that we’d be let in and basked in the ultimate J.J. Abrams-fan-nerdiness that were our fellow movie goers. It was very hard not to interject when I heard all the LOST theories being thrown around, but I managed as best as I could! It was just really fun to be around so many enthusiastic people – unfortunately, there are not many around these parts.

But enough about that, let me get to the good stuff: the movie! Warning: I will obviously be talking about the movie’s plot & characters, so make sure you know what you are doing when you click to continue reading. There will be spoilers, so don’t say I didn’t warn you (in large bold letters)!

Friday Fail.

I hate not having a fun Friday post for all of you, but life caught up to me in a big way this week! I am just so physically and mentally exhausted – does anyone ever feel like there are not enough hours in the day? Yeah, that was the kind of week I had.

So I’m sorry guys! The month of May is definitely going to bring about some pretty interesting posts – I have a lot of fun stuff planned so I’ll be back in action on Monday! Have an awesome weekend <3

I leave you with quite possibly the best TV edit ever:

Office Remodel

office_moodboard

Please go easy on me as this is my first attempt at a mood board! I used to find them a little silly, but after searching for & plugging in some key pieces, I have to say that I am truly inspired and feel like I have more of an idea as to where I want to go with the room. So Melificent approves of this mood board craze! I would say to look out for more in the future, but after the office, we will not be adjusting anything for some time (that’s what they all say).

So for those of you that know us personally & have been to our home, you know that our “spare room/office” is kind of a disaster zone. Crap piled everywhere, gifts off our wedding registry that didn’t “fit” anywhere in our home, books galore, random toys, musical instruments, a torn up futon and the primary home of two rowdy Boston Terriers (& the reason for the torn up futon). Needless to say, it is screaming for a makeover. Bad. Want a peek? Here is the office on a very, very good day. Dark & dreary, right?

Happy Hump Day: Paul Rudd

shoot13_3

I went through a few other boys before settling on Paul Rudd. What made me decide? The hubs. Awkward? Maybe. He was showing me some pretty hilarious pictures of Mr. Rudd and convinced me to make him this week’s hump!

Paul has been in some of my favorite movies, starting with Clueless & Romeo and Juliet (am I showing my age?) and most recently has been part of a pretty popular comedy dream team that I think some of you may know about (wink wink). And let us not forget the true reason he’s being featured: he’s slightly adorable.

Heroes Season Finale

So last night marked the end of season 3 for Heroes and that only meant one thing: finale party! Unfortunately, a lot of our guests couldn’t make it so it was only the hubs, myself and our good friend, Roxy, but we had a great time regardless. Roxy made these amazing Sylar cupcakes, which bled red food coloring when you bit into them – so awesome & delicious! She has definitely been our cupcake mistress. Remember those epic Cylon cupcakes for the Battlestar Galactica finale?

OK, now on to the show. If you have not yet watched or are in the UK or other countries that may be behind the US, please stop reading here! I would hate to spoil anyone’s viewing experience :)

Weekend Highlights

The highlight of our weekend was definitely on Saturday when we joined our good friends Camero & Tom at their place on Key Biscayne. Since it was so windy, we lounged by the pool instead of the beach with good Pandora stations, good beer and good conversations. It was great being able to catch up – Camero and I have been friends since we were 14 years old so we have quite the history together (consisting of badly put together 90’s outfits and embarrassing obsessions with rockstars).

We then gorged ourselves on Five Guys Burgers & Fries and did some bargain shopping at the shops at Midtown. Overall, it was a great day and I hope we do it more often now that beach weather is upon us! For more pictures from our day at the beach, click here.

I hope you all had a great, relaxing weekend and that your Monday is as good as a Monday can possibly be. For all those Heroes fans that read my blog, tonight marks the Season 3 Finale! I honestly cannot wait to see what they have in store for us – I’ve heard it’s going to be epic! Team Sylar! ;)
