What I Wore: Sunday Funday

I live for my weekends, and this one lived up to the hype. The hubs and I spent some quality time together (& checked out Man of Steel – hubba, hubba Henry Cavill), and we had some great times with friends playing card games and drinking a whole lot of wine and eating some serious Spanish tapas. Knowing that we would be engaging in some legit hang time, I knew I had to dress comfortably. This maxi dress perfectly fits the bill because not only does it scream comfort, but it’s also super flattering. Plus I love the fun summer shade of coral paired with nude. In other words, it is the perfect summer uniform.

And more importantly, why do weekends fly by so fast?
Seriously, it’s not fair.

Lovable Friday!

1: Chalkboard polish; How on Earth could I not know about Ciate’s chalkboard paint polish??? Sephora states it’s a new item, so maybe I’m not that far behind the trend. I love that the set comes with its own nail pens to help you create your own unique patterns. Although school is over, this would make a great end of year gift for teachers, or just a gift for that special instructor in your life.

2: Colorful napkins; With all those summer parties in your very near future, you are going to need some sunshine-worthy kitchen accessories. In comes these gorgeous Anthropologie napkins in bold and fun colors and patterns. Serving, wiping and folding have never been more fun.

3: Confetti number cake topper; I’m a big fan of DIY cake toppers – it just adds that special something to birthdays, weddings, showers, etc. And this sweet little tutorial looks just perfect and seemingly easy. Definite birthday project!

4: High-waisted chevron swimsuit; Another adorable swimsuit with no original link. What gives, people? But seriously, this high-waisted chevron bikini is so perfect! I can imagine pairing it with a large, floppy hat, an ice cold piña colada and a relaxed state of mind {similar found here}.

5: Heart bowls; Talking about cute kitchen accessories – check this sweet bowl set out! I don’t know about you, but serving a nice healthy breakfast in one of these guys would make me way more apt to eat it. Just an idea, dieters.

What I Wore: Prints

I know what you’re thinking. Now that it’s summer, what are you going to do with all those great long sleeved blouses you collected during the past few months? Easy! Just pair them with a light, soft pair of shorts and you’ve got yourself the perfect summer outfit! I did exactly that last week for an early Father’s Day celebration and it worked perfectly! I especially loved the details on the blouse’s collar. It’s all about the little things, people!

What I Wore: Summer is Here!

Summer is all about lazy days full of sunshine, friends and cold drinks here in South Florida. Unfortunately, the weather hasn’t been very cooperative, but that doesn’t stop our spirit! Our friend organized a pool party at her dad’s place, which was the scene of many a debaucherous party in our early 20’s. We decided to try to recreate it and were surprised at how lame we are now (not really). Definitely not a rager, but a super fun night with very close friends, amazing food, rum, hookah & Cards Against Humanity. It’s the little things, folks.

And these shorts? They just scream summer. They are going to be the most soft and comfy article of clothing you slip on in the next few months, trust me. Hoping the next time I wear them, they will be paired with some sunshine!

Lovable Friday!

1. Colorblock sneakers; Crazy colorful shades for the summer? Yes please! These great colorblock sneakers from American Apparel are sure to brighten up your June wardrobe, especially as a pop to any outfit. Yep, need ‘em.

2. Unicorn iPhone case; I stand behind anything unicorn-related. Especially if it is paired with a very unladylike statement. That’s why this iPhone case is kind of perfection. Have I mentioned I have a summer birthday? Just sayin’.

3. Lady suit; Gone are the days where a one-piece bathing suit was just for moms and body conscious women. I can’t get over how cute they are lately, and this one only proves my point. Unfortunately, I can’t find it online, but I’m pretty sure it is Moschino, which means I can kiss it and its hefty price tag goodbye. Le sigh.

4. Instagram flask; Do you and your friends insta?? If you know exactly what that phrase means, chances you are going to definitely want one of these sweet flasks. Can you say perfect groomsmen gift??

5. Mojito jello shots; I blame my good friend, Chris Fullman, for this find. I’m always looking for the next best party drink, and I think I have met my match. How perfect would these be for the next Melificent pool party? Although it seems to be some work (hello, lime scooping), I am up for the challenge!

A Melificent Kitchen: GF/Dairy Free Pizza Bites

I’m not a star in the kitchen by any means, but since adhering to my gluten free/dairy free diet more strictly, I’ve had to come to terms with cooking. And you know what? I’ve had fun! Pinterest is a great resource for recipes for those of us with dietary restrictions, and this particular recipe for pizza bites really stood out. Not only are they safe, but also healthy! Six of these babies are only approximately 265 calories. So binge away, readers!

All you need is a box of uncooked quinoa. I use Nature’s Earthly Choice, a quick grab at your local Publix Greenwise aisle. Go ahead, and follow the directions on the box. While it’s cooking, you are going to need the following ingredients:

What I Wore: Islamorada

So I know I mentioned that Key West was my favorite of the Florida Keys, but I have to say that I may cheat on it every now and then with Islamorada. You see, Islamorada is a short one hour drive from our house, and it immediately transports you to paradise. Bright turquoise water, waterfront dining and drinking, and locations with nothing but personality. Although I have many day time haunts on the island(s), my favorite place to go to once the sun starts to set is the Islamorada Fish Company. You just cannot beat the spectacular view and delicious food. Don’t be surprised if I end up back on this pier in the weeks to come.

Lovable Friday!

1. Castle bed linens; these bed linens couldn’t be cuter if they tried. The Australia based company prides themselves on providing quality hand made products, specifically stark white linens with perfectly flouro pillowcases in fun designs. It’s times like these were I start to curse the existence of international shipping.

2. Mini cacti garden; I’ve developed a deep love of succulents. I don’t know if it’s because they are easier to care for (& I have a black thumb) or if they are just more aesthetically pleasing to me, but I can’t get enough of them. This adorable mini garden would make the perfect centerpiece for your coffee table or outdoor patio. Plus is that these little cuties can even be found at your local CVS for less than $2 a pop!

3. DIY envelopes; this blogger stated that she may be crazy. I personally think she’s a genius. I love looking through those huge scrapbook paper pads whenever I am at Joann’s or Michael’s, so the thought of making adorable custom envelopes with them make my heart flutter. I also enjoy Friday night crafting while watching rom-coms. I think this may be love, guys.

4. Flower pops; file this under, “too pretty to eat.” Well, maybe. These would be the perfect addition to a summer pool party, bridal or baby shower. Just make sure the flowers you choose are edible or you may be in for a not-so-tasty surprise(did I mention that one time my hubs ate his wedding boutineer? Yikes).

5. DIY outdoor bar; although this will surely prove to be one hell of an undertaking, I am willing to man up for the challenge. I’ve always wanted to have a bar in our backyard, since it is the perfect space for summer pool parties, but I don’t really have the room (or extra budget) to get one. In comes this amazing compact bar! Now…to make it hurricane proof….

What I Wore: Key West

There are very few places I love more than Key West. The laid back, beachy vibe suits me so well. The minute I arrive, I want to head straight to either The Green Parrot or Fat Tuesday, grab a drink infused with some kind of rum, and relax. There is no rush (only for your next drink), no place to be, no dress code. Oh, & it’s beautiful. Especially when the sun is shining and your friends are by your side. Is there anything better? I think not.

Back in the saddle

After one month of moping around referring to myself as a “retired blogger,” I decided that idea was pretty ridiculous. Blogging is as much a part of me as my “real job,” and makes me just as happy. I just really love to share things with you all, and if no one cares to read it but myself, my husband and best friend, that’s OK by me. Comparing yourself to others is toxic, and I should really know better by now.

Now that I’m returning (squee), there will be some changes. I won’t be posting as often, because I want to make sure that the quality outweighs the quantity of posts. I will also (I should probably shield myself right about now) be retiring hump day posts. I want to remove the fluff, and actually focus on things that matter most to me. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some celebrity hotties, but this is not a celebrity blog (for that, check out the lovely Accidental Sexiness). Lovable Friday, outfit posts and DIY crafts will all still remain, along with sprinkles of what makes me Melificent. I’m also really excited about (several) new future endeavors that will bring you guys a little closer to me in various ways.

So overall, the future is looking bright & I want to bring you all along for the ride.
Sounds good? Good.
