Turkey Coma

I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend! Mine was full of good food and even better company, which is always appreciated. Although I am spending the majority of my time studying and working entirely too hard, it really feels like the holidays this year and gasp(!!) I am actually not loathing them! Who woulda thunk it. ;)

I hope to have some more content in the weeks to come but for now feast your eyes on my new haircut! Although I know my hair looked great long, I could no longer stomach the upkeep especially now that I am so busy. I needed something cute & easy, and as usual, my hairdresser did not lead me astray.

What do you think?

What I Wore: Neon in the City

One of my favorite places in LA is the LACMA. I have to visit every time I’m in town and I’m never disappointed with their temporary exhibits. This time we were fortunate enough to enjoy one on Stanley Kubrick and all his legendary films. Can you believe I’ve only seen one (The Shining)??? I have to say, after completely enjoying the entire experience, I totally find myself wanting to immerse myself in his work. Movie marathon!!!

Something else I really enjoy? Sheer shirts with bling! I have no idea what draws me to own so many sheer blouses, but I hope the trend never goes away. It must be my tropical blood – wanting to be covered, but still airy enough to not suffocate in the Miami heat. Unfortunately for me, that was not the case while I was in LA – it was freezing! Shortly after I took these photos, I had to borrow the hubs’ cardigan to shield me from the elements. Before you judge, remember, I’m tropical, OK?

Sophie Theallet for The Limited

I was super happy to be able to join The Limited last night with their launch of Sophie Theallet’s new collection in stores. Ms. Theallet is bringing her elegance and luxuriousness to the brand by offering the dress you will want to be rocking this holiday season in 4 colors: black, orange, ivory (pictured below) and fuchsia. Although I arrived too late to the event to meet and pose with the designer herself, I didn’t hesitate to try on the lovely frock (while wearing the wrong underwear, of course). But the collection doesn’t stop there! It also includes fantastic accessories, such as this belt (that almost came home with me), as well as some more Winter basics like this cardigan.

What I Wore: LA Living

I’m back from vacation, and I come bearing gifts! Namely, an outfit post! It feels like centuries since I did one, but I’m glad I was able to squeeze a few minutes out of our hectic visit to LA in order to shoot one. We were there for a friend’s wedding and had entirely too much fun. The weather was spectacular as well, allowing me to pull out all those new winter items I never get to rock back home. Leather jackets, boots, scarves and this immensely comfy sweater tunic. And yes, I’m bringing back jeggings (did they go away?) because they are possibly the best article of clothing when you are jet lagged, tired and hung over – not that I was any of those things when these photos were taken. I promise. ;)

Creative 5K’s Coming to Town

Although I’m not one of those girls that gets excited about going to the gym or working out (can’t I just stay in bed sipping on a mimosa?), I love the slew of creative 5K’s that are popping up all over the place lately! I think it’s not only a great way to get active, but also a unique way to spend time with friends and do something a little different. Although “different” may be easy to find elsewhere, it is definitely lacking in Miami so I am very glad to see some of these quirky races coming to our neck of the woods.

Here are just a few that are coming our way;

1. 5K Foam Fest || 2. Color Me Rad 5K || 3. Pretty Muddy || 4. Dirty Girl Mud Race

Would you participate in a fun 5K?
I think I’m going to attempt the Color Me Rad race in February! Any takers?

Pardon me, Ban.do.

So the always festive Ban.do has released it’s new holiday collection and I am head over heels for basically every single piece. I die. I mean, how can you go wrong with their tagline for the collection: Pardon me, I’m sparkly. Funny thing is, I’m pretty sure I could make this statement all throughout the year, not just during the holidays. This time of year just gives me an extra excuse (as if I needed one) to bring out the bling in a big way.

Here are some of my favorites, but make sure to check out the full collection here;

1; flurry pouf || 2; sequin scarf || 3; glitter bow shoe clips || 4; contrast headband || 5; gliterrati twist scarf || 6; drinking the stars comb

Which one is your favorite?
Let me know in the comments!

Happy Halloween {& an update}!

I hope all of you enjoy my favorite holiday, have fun, stay safe and don’t overdose on sugary goodness.

A quick little note if you don’t follow my fan page on Facebook (if you don’t, remedy that please): I will have to step away from the blog for about 3 months starting tomorrow. Something came up that needs my undivided attention, so unfortunately, the blog is going to have to take a backseat until then. Good news is, I will still be posting, but I will be limiting those posts to about once a week. I’ve asked some friends and fellow bloggers to please contribute whenever they can so that the blog does not remain too stagnant. If you are interested in participating, definitely let me know!

Birthday Boy Details

October is full of so many festivities – it’s always one of my favorites!

It also is home to my favorite holiday and my favorite person’s birthday, my husband. He said he wanted something very low-key at home with his closest friends. Nothing major, just a night where we could have a few cocktails and catch up. I took the opportunity to make the party special, while not breaking the bank. I used items that were either under $5 or that I found laying around the house. It is totally possible to throw a party at your home without saying goodbye to a quarter of your bank account, I promise.

{Adventures in Pinteresting:} Black & Brown

Say hello to yet another new feature!

I think it’s pretty common knowledge that I absolutely adore Pinterest and use it as a resource for all things. ALL THINGS. So in order to showcase everything Pinterest inspires me to do, I decided to start posting my very own adventures in Pinteresting (see what I did there?). This time I decided to tackle the black jumpsuit with brown accessories that’s been floating around my stream, but with a few little Melificent tweaks.

For one, I decided to dump the plain old brown belt for a leopard one. I mean, nothing really beats animal print accessories when you want to make an impact, am I right? I also chose to go with a more rock ‘n roll vibe with my necklace choice and ditched the classic gold monogram to go with trendy spikes and hardware. Overall, just a more edgy version of the Pinterest inspiration.

My goal for these features is to help all of you realize that you don’t have to be carbon copies of everything you see on Pinterest, but just use them as inspiration to make them your own. And don’t expect just to see fashion picks, but also DIY, home, etc! Super excited to share them all with you!
