What I Wore: Jewel Tones & Glitter Collars

Oh color. Oh silliness. Why do I love you so? Not really quite sure, but any excuse to bring both those out is one I will surely take and run with. This past weekend was my hubby’s birthday and we put together the infamous Pinterest balloon wall. It came out great, but unfortunately, we were all too busy socializing, drinking wine and enjoying ourselves to remember to snap pictures of people in front of it. What a fail! Oh well, at least I was able to take advantage of it for my outfit post! And I think it may be one of my favorites to date.

A Very Special Birthday

I very clearly remember locking myself in a high school bathroom stall and muffling my tears as I chanting “no one will ever love me” over and over again in my head. Boy, was I wrong. Terribly wrong. Fast forward some 15 years later (that was scary to type), and I can’t possibly fathom why this particularly amazing man loves me. Not only loves me, but thinks I am one of the most amazing people he has ever met. Just looking at me makes him smile. I have no idea what sorcery I unknowingly pointed his way, but I am thankful every day that it worked.

Happy birthday, Agustin Sanchez. You are not only my best friend, my husband and my partner in crime, but you are also my hero and inspiration. You are the reason I laugh and smile with such ease. You are my sanity. You are my happy place. You never stop surprising me, and I know you never will.

{Being Melificent} Living Gluten-Free in Miami

Hello, new feature!

In an attempt to be more candid and bring a little more ME to Melificent (see what I did there?), I will be starting to post entries regularly about things that are going on in my personal life, beliefs, advice or just what’s cluttering my brain at the moment. What can I say? I was a Livejournal kid. It’s my natural tendency to want to bear my soul.

Neon Blouse: 3 Ways!

You all expressed that you enjoyed a good remix post, so here is another shot at one for you all! As you all know, I absolutely love my hot pink blouse that I picked up at H&M while on vacation in Los Angeles this past summer, and I do not mask the fact that I wear it often. And just because you wear something often does not mean that you will be sporting the same look over and over again. While looking through past outfit posts, I noticed that each time I wore the blouse, I went for a completely different vibe. Even if you are sporting a repeat offender, chances are no one will notice if you style it differently. And that’s what remixing is all about!

So which look is your favorite?
The modern pin up, the casual tourist or the trendy chick?
Let me know in the comments!

1. Marc Jacobs Boston Terrier iPhone Case

I definitely had a physical reaction when I saw this BEYOND adorable iPhone case by Marc Jacobs. Usually if a dog is featured on accessories, it’s a Frenchie, so I was so happy to see that Marc Jacobs decided to use our favorite little furries instead! Although the case is a steep $50, I still find myself wanting to move it into my shopping cart. I’m easily swayed.

What I Wore: Girls Nite

Remember craft nite? I also wore a pretty cute outfit to that. Here’s the official outfit post for all of you!

Funny story about this jumpsuit! My mother-in-law (who is extremely fashionable) originally purchased it and didn’t like the way it looked on her (what a cray cray), so she gave it to me. I, in turn, am completely obsessed with it and I’m sorry if you see me in it like…every weekend. Isn’t it fabulous and 70’s?? I was obviously born too late.

Happy Hump Day: Stephen Amell

I asked you all to chime in on who you wanted featured on this week’s hump day post, and it was pretty unanimous: you all wanted a girl! I’m completely ready to feature a female hottie, but after watching the pilot episode for Arrow, I just couldn’t let another week go by without featuring the beautiful creature that is Stephen Amell. He is just that ridiculously good looking (and my memory is that ridiculously bad). So I have not forsaken you, a sexy lady is coming next week so sit back and enjoy this lovely piece of man meat. It’s a good one.

{DIY Craft Nite}

It had been too long since I hosted a girls only crafting party, so I felt the need to remedy that. This past weekend, I invited some girls over to make our own headbands! We had a blast working from this template, and added some much needed wine and gossip to the mix. Best part? I was able to add some fun details with items I had laying around the house!

My favorite party dino that I painted years back. And an amazing graphic I had the hubs make.

1. Fun Tiles

I absolutely love the tile in this London property. It almost seems a little Mondrian in style, no? I think it really makes a great modern impression and looks fantastic against the retro tube. Love the juxtaposition! I just wish I could figure out how they did it. Different color tiles? Painted certain tiles? A woman has got to know!
