Lovable Friday!

1. Asos Clutch

I am absolutely in love with this color for summer. That gorgeous turquoise green just reminds me of the beach, namely my most favorite place on Earth: the Florida Keys. This portfolio-style clutch from Asos would just cheer up any outfit, hell it would cheer me up everytime I looked at it! Unfortunately, it comes with a hefty price tag, but comfort yourself in knowing that Asos does not charge any shipping rates! Hey, as a shopaholic you always have to find the silver linings!

Birthday Wishlist

So, as you all know, my birthday is slowly creeping up. My hubby is planning a surprise outing for me next Saturday to celebrate, and I am both nervous and excited. I love being surprised, but at the same time am a control freak, so I’ve been trying my best to play this balancing game since he told me the date. I don’t know where we are going or who will be there – the only thing I have been told is that it is an all day affair, and that I should dress casual and bring a bikini (& a large appetite). Needless to say, outfit has already been planned and my brain has been swimming with all the possibilities.

My brain has also been working in overdrive selecting must-have items for my birthday wishlist, and for those of you that are wondering what you can get me, my pinboards on Pinterest are your one stop gift idea shops. I spend more time than I’d like to admit compiling photos and ideas on that site, so it’s a pretty comprehensive guide to anything I may be lusting over at the moment.

::beeeeeep::

And this has been my birthday gift public service announcement. Carry on. ;)

Happy Hump Day: Charlie Hunnam

Apparently I am missing out on something serious by not watching FX’s Sons of Anarchy. I have several friends that are always raving about it on the Facebooks, but I figured it was some dude-like show that I wouldn’t get into (cue Spartacus – it’s just so ridiculous), being about an outlaw motorcycle club and all. That was, until one of those friends posted the photo above, and I saw exactly what I was missing: Charlie Hunnam. Are you joking me with this guy? Not only does he look like that, but he’s also British (that gives him quite a few more points in my book) – something like that comes packaged with an English accent? Definitely not fair. I see my Netflix working in overdrive in the very near future to catch up with all seasons. Anyone care to join?

Summer Finds

So back a couple of weeks ago, I posted about some summer essentials that I was hoping to find while in Chicago shopping at H&M. Unfortunately, I was surprised to see that they didn’t have too many summery options (where were their shorts? fun beach hats?), I was able to score a couple. And since I promised to share with all of you upon my return, here are my recent additions to my summer wardrobe:

I found a fun and flirty bikini at…Target! I loved the color combo and the ruffles! I had been searching for an affordable ruffled bikini ever since first setting eyes on this beauty from Asos. Happy to report that it is officially my birthday bikini – 30 doesn’t look so bad in this little number!

Happy 4th!

Via; weheartit

Happy 4th of July, readers! I hope you spend it celebrating with your nearest and dearest by some body of water, enjoying some patriotic spirits (PBR sounds about right). Try not to light yourself on fire, and most importantly, have a blast! We love you, America!

Cadillac Ranch Grand Opening Party

Although CG Burgers really let me down, I am very excited about West Kendall getting another new joint: Cadillac Ranch. They tout themselves as a premier all american bar and grill offering BBQ, comfort food, cocktails…and a mechanical bull. That spells trouble – the kind I’d like to get into. And this Thursday, July 7th, I will be – and so should you! Cadillac Ranch will be hosting their grand opening party starting at 6pm with half-off cocktails (until 10pm). Even better? All money from each mechanical bull ride will go towards Autism Speaks! As if you needed extra incentive to have a go at the beast. ;)

For your free tickets, contact Joany Meurice at joany.meurice@autismspeaks.org and tell her Melificent sent you! Hope to see you there, fellow Kendallites!

Lovable Friday!

First off, happy July everyone! Its my most favorite month, as it’s my birthday! This year will be a rough one to swallow (the big 3-0), but I still like all the love and festivities that surrounds it, so…bring it on!

1. Gorgeous photo setup

It’s summer time, and that means what better backdrop than the beautiful outdoors for your next photoshoot (make sure to pack a portable fan if you are a fellow South Florida resident)? Although mother nature can be beautiful on her own, these gorgeous props featured above can only help. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to be part of this shoot? Or at least run by and steal a cupcake?

Chicago in Pictures

I could just babble about our recent trip to Chicago, but I’m sure you all tire of my mumbo jumbo every now and then. So instead, here are the highlights of our trip in photo form. I honestly wish I could take a trip like this one at least one weekend a month. It was so fun, refreshing and exciting. Let’s do it again in the near future, Chicago!

Happy Hump Day: Elijah Wood

Sound the alarms, readers! I had not yet featured Elijah Wood on hump day! I know, I am pretty disappointed in myself. I know FX’s Wilfred just started last week (I hope you all watched – it was hilarious), and his role as Frodo will forever be remembered, but my love affair with Mr. Wood started way back. Namely, when I was a tween. Whenever I had a sick day, my mom always knew to bring me home an Elijah Wood movie home from Blockbuster. He then professed his love for The Smashing Pumpkins – my favorite band. And then came Lord of the Rings, my first true nerdy fandom. And it was basically sealed. I’m pretty sure we are destined to be BFF’s, so if you are out there, El Wood, let’s throw back some beers, take some lomo shots, and catch a secret Pumpkins show. Oh, and cuddle.

ps; whoever can state who took the picture above wins Melificent brownie points!

What I Wore: Sightseeing in Chicago

Chicago was absolutely wonderful! I loved it the first time I went back in 2006, but it was definitely nice to go again in warm weather. It was a totally different experience, and I loved every minute of it. We had some really great food, saw some beautiful architecture and enjoyed some seriously delicious weather. I had one day all by my lonesome to explore the windy city (hubby was at a conference), so I had some quality park time, went shopping & walked to & from Navy Pier getting a fair dose of some gorgeous cityscapes. And this is what I wore while doing it:

Dress; Old Navy
Sheer crop top; H&M
Sandals; Gap outlet
Earrings; Forever 21
Assorted bracelets; gifted
Skeleton key; Etsy
Sunnies; Forever 21
Bag; Levi’s

Special appearance by the lovely Ms. Melanie!
