I’ll be spending a much needed relaxing weekend with my hubby and friends in one of my favorite places, the Windy City, so the blog will be sans love on this Friday. However, I’ll make sure to come back next week with a full report of all the fun. Don’t miss me too much!
The great people of ZICO coconut water were nice enough to send me a variety pack last week of their delicious and refreshing product to review and share with all of you lovely readers, and I was more than willing to do just that! ZICO is an all-natural beverage that has the 5 essential electrolytes. Do you know that ZICO coconut water has more potassium than a banana and 15 times the potassium of a typical sports drink? It’s also more hydrating than water and has zero fat, cholesterol or added sugar. And it’s my new favorite (non-alcoholic) drink of the summer!
So ladies, I hear you all a-twitter about Mr. Fassbender. Although I was more of a Charles Xavier kind of girl myself, I can see the draw of the good, but tortured boy gone bad. He was absolutely wonderful as Magneto, no doubt about it, and there is most certainly something attractive about him, but I just can’t get into him (har har) for some reason (I think I just don’t like his smile). But plenty of you girls can, and he’s got some really great photos to choose from on the Tumblr’s, so I decided to feature him this week! You can definitely never say that I only think of myself, now can you?
Net and I have been friends since we were 14. I believe our friendship really blossomed during a Bush concert, when she yelled at me that I was a “BITCH!” from the stands (due to my floor seat status). Ah, comradery. We have been in each others’ lives ever since. We shared many laughs, tears, and at times, screaming matches, but my favorite moments have been the seemingly mundane. Driving through the city of Miami on chilly days with the windows down in my VW Beetle, having impromptu silly photoshoots around town, playing James Bond on Nintendo 64 in bed. Those are the times I cherish the most, and always will. And despite not seeing each other in a long time, when we met up for this fun photoshoot with the hubs, it was as if no time had passed at all. And that, my friends, is friendship. And I think ours really shines in the photos below:
I have harbored quite a love affair with Essie nail polish over the past few months. It really helps that I’ve found my own little secret location that sells each glorious shade for only $3 (totally fuels the obsession), so I’ve been growing a pretty serious collection. However, it’s always looking to expand, and these summer colors are definitely fitting the bill.

What are some of your favorite polish shades for this summer? ps; How cute is that tattoo pictured above?
I’m a big fan of balloons. They just really set the mood and tone for a fun festivity. That’s why my jaw dropped when I discovered Geronimo balloons. They are nothing short of magical: huge and perfectly round 36 inch spheres, tied with glittery, gorgeous, fairy-like streamers of wonder. Yes, I am in love. Want to know more? Such a sweet story.
This is my first Polyvore set, and I have to say, I’m digging how easy it is to put one of these together! We may have a successful relationship together in the future. But, I digress. I put together this fun little compilation to share some of the essential pieces I would like to add to my summer wardrobe while doing some quick shopping in Chicago next week. I’ll be hopping on board my hubby’s business trip, and hopefully making the most out of my time in The Windy City by playing (not-your-average) tourist & visiting with some of my friends. And, of course, hitting the nearest H&M! I am in search of a brightly colored maxi skirt, a bold-colored striped skirt, a fun beach hat, a versatile crossbody bag, a pair of hotly hued (but age appropriate) shorts, a flirty bikini & finally, a cropped jumpsuit. Here’s hoping the shopping gods are with me!
Whatever I do find, I’ll make sure to share with all of you upon my return to the blogosphere!
What are some items you think are summer essentials?
Back in my teens, I’m pretty sure I was the only chick in Miami completely and totally obsessed with hockey. Our team, the Florida Panthers, really stink, I’m not one to delude myself. But back in the day, we drafted a new goalie, and his name was Roberto Luongo. It didn’t take much time for me to have a full-blown crush on the guy – and I had reason. Number one, he meets all requirements to be “my type,” and he’s also one talented mofo. He’s now on the Vancouver Canucks and is rocking it in the Stanley Cup Finals (well, not during Game 6), and I don’t think I have to let you guys know who I am rooting for. Go Lu! Bring your A-game to Game 7!
The hubs and I had a pretty chill Sunday (I love those). We had to run some errands and were hoping to stop by and eat lunch at the new Sonic Beach in Homestead, but we quickly found out it wasn’t open yet (but it is now). We settled for a quick bite at Chili’s and had some fun later that night with a photoshoot starring both myself and fashion blogger, The Fashionable ESQ! I’ve been anti-jeans lately, and that day was no different. Although it’s absolutely miserable weather-wise most of the time, I really love summer time in Miami. Everyone just feels so much more relaxed, and weekends are all about fun in the sun. It also brings out the maxi dresses, shorts and sandals. Can you say hello comfort?

This weekend we hosted a pool party for my beautiful mother-in-law’s birthday. We slapped the photo booth back in action, and ordered some absolutely delicious Cuban food. What I loved the most was spending some relaxed family time in our house. It made me really excited to host some more family events once the holidays roll around later this year.
My big boy, Brad-Pitt, also celebrated a birthday this past weekend. He has given us 6 years of nothing but happiness and love. He really is the best dog anyone could ask for, and I feel so lucky to have him in my life. Mommy loves you, monster!
