No worries, it will be a short one. I just need a quick break from the blog this week to refocus my attention on work. I also woke up sick this morning, so I plan on taking it easy in hopes that I will feel better in no time. I definitely can’t afford to feel under the weather when working with children!

I personally love auction shows. It’s always so amazing to see what relics people may be storing in their homes unaware of their value – gets you thinking twice about throwing out your grandmother’s hand-me-down rocking chair, huh? Anywho, two of the best “treasure hunters” in the business, Allen Haff and Clinton Ton Jones, will be back for a second season of Spike TV’s Auction Hunters starting next Tuesday, April 5 at 10pm/9c. The second season follows Haff and Jones across the country in their quest to win auctions, dig for abandoned historical treasure and sell them for a profit. Even better? They decided to start the season with a bang by visiting Miami in their first episode!
Great choice, boys! I can’t wait to see what they uncover in my hometown.
Lord knows we need some positive press after that Bravo housewife debacle (seriously, how terrible were they?).

Calling all nerds, I have found your staple headpiece! How cute is this comic book headband? I personally think it’s the perfect accessory for all those Comic Con attendees. And if I play my cards right, I just might be one of those lucky geeks in attendance this year (again)! If so, I’ll be grabbing myself one or two for the road.

I love me a good dose of home goods. You may think this love affair began when I bought my first house, but no. I’ve always loved to spend hours in any sort of home decor/crafting/design store from as long as I could remember. Decorating has always been a love of mine, starting from when I just had my own room in my mother’s home to renovate. So you could imagine my joy when IKEA finally opened its doors in South Florida a couple of years ago. In fact, I joke that the majority of my home is IKEA (but it really is), and that I should be made into some sort of brand ambassador because I am always singing their praises.
But wait.

This is another hump day hottie that I unfortunately am not familiar with, but came as a recommendation. I have heard a lot of positive reviews about Showtime’s Shameless, and the lovely Justin Chatwin stars as Steve, a handsome and well-bred dude that has the hots for Emmy Rossum’s character, Fiona. And apparently he was on LOST? Everyone knows any LOST alumnae is a friend of mine. Especially if you look like this dude…just sayin’
I am always drawn to loose dresses – it’s my conflicting desire to both look feminine but be comfortable, I guess. I am aware they do not always flatter my figure (I have one, I swear. It’s under there!), but I can’t help myself. So naturally this pretty little plum number caught my eye while browsing through the new sale site, SeenOn. I was excited to be able to wear it for my friend’s baby shower this past weekend and had fun pairing it with some sky-high wedges and sparkly accessories. I had a great time at the party, but somehow managed to catch the bangles on the dress causing multiple tears. So upsetting! I hate when I damage clothes on the first wear. Why am I so accident prone!

Friday night we celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday at his home with his closest family and friends. We had a really good time, and the highlight of the evening was watching old family slides projected on his living room’s wall. Really special. Another highlight? Reconnecting with cousins that we love very very much.
This concept is just killer. I am always looking for new, fun and unique ways to work out. Unfortunately, bobbing on an elliptical machine for 45 minutes just does not do it for me. I get bored and restless at about the 6 minute mark. Cue Derby Lite! It’s a workout based on roller derby, only without the aggressive hits. Each 2-hour workout includes off-skates conditioning, dynamic warm-ups, on-skates skills and drills, upper body strength exercises and cool-down stretching (aka; not boring). Unfortunately, Derby Lite is not offered in Miami (wah!), but you can submit a form requesting that your city be added. I did, and you should too!
I have a whole lot of beautiful, wonderful and talented friends in California. One of the many reasons I head over there a whole lot. I just can’t handle not seeing them on a regular basis. I’m greedy like that. Anywho, one of their friends, Todd, filled me in on his hysterical online series, Dealership. The site is chock-full of funny little skits starring Todd (I mean, Freebrook) and his buddies that revolve around their work days adventures at a car dealership.
After watching a few episodes, I was cracking up (need me some of those powerblinds) – definitely reminded me of some sort of spin-off of The Office (that’s a compliment). So check it out, spend some quality time watching the gang and shoot them a line or two about how much you loved it (I know you will!).
Because I never say no to my lovely readers, I decided to also feature the second most popular dude in my open vote for hump day hotties: Jon Hamm! Now I really tried to get into Mad Men, I did. But for some reason, I just couldn’t. I think it’s because all the characters didn’t have any redeeming qualities to them – I just couldn’t find any of them all that lovable. But it appears I’m the only one! America is completely enamored with the show and its leading man, Mr. Jon Hamm. And I can’t say I really blame them on that tip. He’s quite the stunner.
