Squeeworthy: 1618 Something Different

Antique shopping: something Miami is lacking. I see people get all these amazing pieces off the street and from specialty stores, but I can never find a similar (& affordable) option down here. I wish I could tell you this post is about a new local discovery (but I’m all ears to any suggestions), but instead it is a new not-so-local one. To only add fuel to my lusty fire, my friend Mallory (check out her amazing decor/lifestyle blog here) recently posted about her trip to Winter Park, FL to visit 1618, a fabulous retro/vintage furniture store.

As if her own amazing find wasn’t enough to incite some serious envy, she told me to check out their Picasa album that they update regularly with new arrivals. And I did. And I instantly regretted it. In a record 5 seconds, I managed to fall deeply in love with this Paul McCobb Modular Table. Do you think they take orders by phone? And then ship them? For no additional cost?

Am I asking for too much?
::sigh::

Lovable Friday!

1. Dino Bracelet

You would be seriously bringing it back to the old school with this dino bracelet found at Olive Shoppe. I hate when I fall in love with something on Pinterest, and then follow the link only to find that it is sold out (or ridiculously expensive); this bracelet fell under both categories. Bah humbug. Can’t somebody talented out there replicate this for me? I’ll make you cupcakes.

1. Stamp Rug

I really wish I could have more rugs in my home, but with 2 rowdy (& hairy) dogs, it’s always a bad idea. But something tells me that I would make an exception for this kick ass stamp rug emblazoned with the Queen’s likeness in bold, kicking colors. Maybe slapping one on the wall would be a better option. ;)

Backyard Project

Now that we have (nearly) finished our front yard project, it’s time to tackle our backyard! Yes, the work of a homeowner never ends. The backyard is something we will need to focus all our attention on, as it is the backdrop for my 30th birthday party this year. Aside from refinishing and fixing our pool, I want to add some decorative touches to make it a little more lively, and more “us.” For this reason, I put together a fun little mood board with some great items I am currently lusting over! I figured I would share it with you all since summer is quickly approaching and I’m sure I’m not the only one dreaming of long, sunny days lounging outside by my pool, right?

1. Chica Turquoise Wall Vase – $12.95
2. Aqua Folding Side Table – $21.95
3. Recycled Hello Pop Art – $34
4. Mesh Lantern – $24.95
5. Rubber Vase – $10.95

What are some of your favorite outdoor pieces this season?

Happy April Fools Day!
Hope you haven’t gotten pranked on too many times, my loves!

1. Comic Headband

Calling all nerds, I have found your staple headpiece! How cute is this comic book headband? I personally think it’s the perfect accessory for all those Comic Con attendees. And if I play my cards right, I just might be one of those lucky geeks in attendance this year (again)! If so, I’ll be grabbing myself one or two for the road. ;)

Squeeworthy: CasaIdeas

Photo courtesy of South Miami News

I love me a good dose of home goods. You may think this love affair began when I bought my first house, but no. I’ve always loved to spend hours in any sort of home decor/crafting/design store from as long as I could remember. Decorating has always been a love of mine, starting from when I just had my own room in my mother’s home to renovate. So you could imagine my joy when IKEA finally opened its doors in South Florida a couple of years ago. In fact, I joke that the majority of my home is IKEA (but it really is), and that I should be made into some sort of brand ambassador because I am always singing their praises.

But wait.

What is this I hear?

The newly stationed CasaIdeas has moved into my neck of the woods?
I had to check it out.

1. Season 3 of Showtime's United States of Tara

The wait is finally almost over! If you are just as big a fan as I am of Showtime’s outrageous show, United States of Tara, it has felt like an eternity since the show’s last season ended. Thankfully, on March 28th, that will all change. The third season will follow Tara as she decides to head back to school, along with all her alters, which is sure to bring more even more drama to our favorite Kansas family. Want a sneak peek? Check out the official trailer right here. And yes, you saw correctly. That is Mr. Eddie Izzard himself making a guest appearance this season!

Weekend Highlights

Nothing too crazy this weekend to report on, but I am happy to share that after a not-so-fun, but successful trip to IKEA, we have some new fun pieces for our home! Our walls have been bare for a very long time, as the hunt for Meli and Augi approved art is not an easy one (or an affordable one), but we were able to find two fun gallery wraps that fit perfectly on our naked walls:

The best part is that they were both reasonably priced, but have wet my appetite to continue filling up all the blank canvas! I especially love the beautiful Klimt replica – the colors match our living room to the tee! And the kitschy pop art print in our bedroom brings a little more life into what seems like a very dull and lifeless color scheme (all brown & white).

We were also able to pick up a nice silver frame for our one-of-a-kind print by Nan Lawson, which is now adorning our entry way, as well as an adorable little pillow for our bed. I love the polka dot pattern complimented with the mustard color backing (which matches perfectly with our striped duvet cover).

Want a similar look?
Klimpt canvas art – $49.99
Pop art print – $9.99
Ribba frame – $9.99
Polka Dot pillow – $9.99

Our front yard also has gotten a tremendous face lift, but that’s another post for another day.
Loving how our little nest is coming together!

1. Dino bookend

Who wouldn’t want Bobo the dinosaur holding up their books, acting as a door stopper or just staring at you with those non-existent, but somehow adorable eyes? You just can’t resist. Although a little pricey at $48, you can have your own leather Bobo to adorn your bachelor pad, children’s room or office space. It’s kind of weird and sad that I will no longer have a desk to call my own (new job starts in a couple weeks & it’s a contracted position), but if I still did, I would love this little sucker to perch on it. Although I would probably switch out his plain black collar for a nice hot pink number instead. ;)
