I really really love watches. I tend to like them really big and masculine, but every now and then, I enjoy some cute feminine styles. La Mer Collection’s of layer wrap watches that can double as cuffs or bracelets are so stylish and beautiful. Plus they are affordable, all falling under $100. There’s something very L.A.M.B.-ish about them, which is always a plus! I made sure to show the hubs their website already, just in case he is ever feeling generous.

I am not a homebody. I love to be out doing cool stuff with cool people. I, however, do not like spending vast amounts of money when doing so. This is why I was super happy when I found out that there was going to be a tweet up at Miami Beach’s 8 oz. Burger Bar with an open bar, free appetizers and a Rock Band competition. How fun is that? I can vouch it was tons. The place was slammed, but the bartenders were really great about handing out the free drinks and the appetizers were being passed around like hot cakes. Plus, it helps that I was with great company. I hope they do more of these – totally loved the idea and the freebies! We finished the night at a friends’ house where we caught up with each other, drank and had a delicious dinner. Perfect start to the weekend!
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I really needed this Friday more so than I have in a long time! I am welcoming today with open arms!
Oddly enough, I received The Knot’s Florida Edition magazine last night. I haven’t been a bride for over 2 years so seeing it in my mailbox came as a shock. Also pretty telling as I’ve been struggling internally with my future career options (quarter life crisis?). While looking through the magazine, this gown by wonderful designer Lela Rose caught my eye. How adorable is it? Unfortunately for you brides to be, it has one hell of a price tag, but it’s definitely nice to look at!
I never would have thought that I would be the one putting together our Valentine’s Day dinner, but lately I’ve learned to expect the unexpected! The hubs and I are pretty mellow people when it comes to Valentine’s Day. If you all remember, last year we spent the day at IKEA shopping and eating ice cream followed by a photoshoot. This year, we are planning on having a little picnic at a nearby park and then following it up that night with a romantic dinner for two at home.
I have to admit, I don’t know much about this guy except that his body is downright ridiculous. The hubs made me sit through the Fantastic Four (he has something I like to refer to as “Alba-vision”) and even though the movie was about as terrible as watching paint dry, I could not complain after laying my eyes on Chris Evans. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that feels this way especially after searching for photos for this post. I noticed a certain trend with all the photos found: topless. So these will definitely be in the true spirit of hump day.
But I won’t do that.
I still refuse to believe that this is true, but I guess there is no denying after Ms. Simpson tweeted this lovely picture last week. I just do not understand it. And I don’t think I want to. Being a huge Pumpkins fan (not to mention Corgan fan), I just felt the need to address how horrified I am by this whole situation here on Melificent. I stumbled upon a blog the other day that put it better than anyone ever could: “He is a musical genius, she is a musical retard.” What could they see in each other? What do they have in common? This has totally slapped me in the face.
I attempted a break up with Mr. Corgan, but I don’t really know if I can. I honestly don’t think it’s possible. I have a freaking tattoo on my flesh, people. So all I can hope is that this pairing will not affect his music or writing. So far, the two tracks off the epic Teargarden by Kaleidyscope have been great so I’m crossing my fingers that this track record will continue. I’m also trying to ignore the whispers that they are recording a song together. I think our split may have to be permanent if that ever hits airwaves. I chose to ignore the whole Tila Tequila thing, but this is really pushing my buttons.
It also makes me sad that he may believe he needs something like this whole Jessica fiasco just to attract attention to his new music. Music should speak for itself, and his always has (at least to my ears), so using a cheap publicity scheme just seems so below Billy and the Pumpkins. I’m hoping some witch cast a spell on him, causing him to forget everything about himself, because honestly that would be the only excuse I would accept at this point.

Sorry I’m so late to the game, everyone, but I had one hell of a Monday!
Thankfully, I had the day off from work but the higher powers that be decided it would be best if I didn’t take it as a day of rest.
My Mustang crapped out on me as I was leaving the gym for my usual cardio workout. Turns out I needed a new battery and I was lucky my brother-in-law also had the day off and was able to help me. The ‘Stang is open for business once more!
Anywho, that would be why I was so absent from the Internets, but I really wanted to post about the Globes!
– I was so happy that Michael C. Hall won for his category. Not only was it an amazing season for Dexter, but it had to feel great for him after battling cancer. It really broke my heart to see him in that little black beanie. I love my little serial killer!
– Ricky Gervais did a great job hosting. He really cracked me up. So inappropriate. So right.
– How annoying was Chloe Sevigny? I couldn’t stand how she continuously complained about her dress the entire night. First to NBC about the rain ruining her gown and then to that poor man that helped her up to the stage after he stepped on and ripped it. It’s a freaking dress, honey. Probably one you don’t even own so shut your trap.
– Julia Roberts was tanked from the moment she got out of her limo. Excellence.
– Is Avatar really that good?
– Drew Barrymore‘s acceptance speech was adorable.
– I love this man.
But now on to what’s really important: the gowns!

Now that I have had some extra time on my hands to read, I’ve really been enjoying the Sookie Stackhouse series, which inspired HBO’s True Blood. I am currently on Book 4, and although it is shaping up to be my favorite so far, I really enjoyed Book 3 so I can’t wait to see the way they decide to translate it on the show. HBO knows that there are many die-hard “Truebies” out there, so they made this sweet little teaser to (attempt to) tide us over until June. Also, for those fellow fans, the biggest recent news was that the role of Alcide (sweet & sexy werewolf that becomes involved with Sookie in more ways than one) was given to Joe Manganiello, who has appeared on How I Met Your Mother and One Tree Hill in the past. At first, I wasn’t all that happy with the casting, but he has grown on me after doing several google image searches
In honor of the opening of the CB2 store in South Beach today, I decided I’d share some of my favorite items from their new catalog. Unfortunately, I can’t be there to enjoy opening day, so this is the next best thing. I hope to be able to stop by sometime this weekend though – yay for goodies!
Just taking a moment out of everyone’s hump day to mention what happened in Haiti yesterday. The island was rocked by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that destroyed buildings, homes and lives. Those lucky enough to survive the quake have been left without food, water, shelter or medical care.
