Happy Hump Day: Sam Worthington

GAS2101429_003

Although I don’t really know anything about this guy and honestly, didn’t know who he was until last week, a lot of you (both male and female heh) voted that he be featured as a hump day hottie. I realized I wasn’t familiar with him because he was both in Terminator Salvation and Avatar: two movies I haven’t yet seen. He’s also slated to be in Clash of the Titans, which seems like it is going to be lots of fun from what I saw on the awesome trailer. He’s an Aussie, so that automatically makes him OK in my book! Enjoy the eye candy, mate!

Oh my {glitter}!

Just thinking of one of my favorite things in the world: glitter. Glitter makes everything better, don’t you think? I’d like to bathe in glitter and wear it head to toe. Fits perfectly with my 2010 cupcake fashion motto too. Just sayin’. ;)

I’m totally loving this glitter pump trend for brides. If I were getting married all over again, I definitely would have rocked a pair!

Shorties.

{No weekend highlights today as I spent it all attempting to recover from the cold that just won’t quit}

It’s no secret to anyone that I’d love to be an event planner and my absolute favorite are weddings. Ever since I planned my own, the seed was planted and it only continues to grow. One day, when I find the guts I will actually give it a go (cue 2010 wish to find something that makes you happy), but for now I settle on searching through multitudes of wedding blogs and fantasizing on the amazing ones I could create.

One trend that recently caught my eye is that of the short wedding dress.
I’ve always loved it, but didn’t really let the thought linger while shopping for my own wedding dress. After seeing all these photos, I really wish I would have! So cute and whimsical!

Lovable Friday!

It’s been awhile since I’ve compiled a Lovable Friday due to the holidays! Unfortunately, not a very lovable Friday for me. I’ve been pretty sick the entire week. I guess I’m not cut out for this 40 degree weather in Miami!

Words cannot describe how happy this makes me! South Florida seems to always be the last to get amazing stores: we recently got West Elm and IKEA after years of lusting from afar and have yet to see an H&M (one in Orlando just opened several months ago). I cannot wait to take advantage of their fabulous sales without having to tack on those nasty shipping charges! And just in time for our new home too! The store opens in Lincoln Road Mall on January 14th. See you there ;)

Almost 1!

It’s pretty unbelievable to me, but Melificent is going to be one year old in February! I can’t tell you how much fun I have had in the past year managing this blog. It’s been my stress relief tool in so many occasions and it’s been able to broaden my horizons in terms of creativity. Plus, I’ve been introduced to so many beautiful blogs that inspire me on a daily basis as well as push me to strive to be just as amazing with my own. I’ve even gotten some really great emails from people that genuinely enjoy reading Melificent, which is so ridiculously flattering.

Like I mentioned in my 2010 wishes, I would love to give this blog more attention and hope to accomplish that in Melificent’s 2nd year in business. Kicking that off will be a redesign of the blog by the hubs next month as well as a little video project I’d like to introduce to you all here:

It’ll be fun!

Happy Hump Day: RDJ

robert-downey-jr-photos-034

The only guy you know instantly by just saying three little letters. And the guy a whole bunch of you requested for today’s hump day hottie! I can’t say that I disagree either, ladies – it’s elementary. ;)

Sorry I have to be so brief but unfortunately this week is busy busy busy.
Enjoy the glorious picspam!

2010 Motto

dresslikeacupcakeIf you are my friend on Facebook, you’ll remember that I posted a picture of this adorable print and stated that it was going to be one of my motto’s for 2010 and although silly, it is no lie that a girl’s attitude will sky rocket if she thinks she looks good. And for me, looking good means bright colors, ruffles and glitter. That’s just the way it is. And here are some sweet and affordable pieces that would definitely fit my new motto:

Weekend Highlights: NYE Edition

4235668823_06a6d091be

We hosted a little shindig on New Years Eve at our pad for some of our closest friends that didn’t have any plans to ring in 2010. It was small, but so fun. Thanks to a group of some amazing friends, we received Beatles Rock Band which was the highlight of the night. We were actually having so much fun singing and playing along that before we knew it, midnight was right around the corner. We had a fun midnight toast with canned Sofia’s and spent the rest of the night catching up and just hanging out. Nothing too raucous or insane. I couldn’t think of welcoming 2010 in a better way.

The rest of the long weekend was spent being romantic, dancing with friends, visiting family and running random errands. Perfectly understated. Hello, 2010, you are going to be lovely.

Good luck to all of you that are going back to work today (like me) – it’ll be a hard week, but we can do it! And if all fails, just think: 4 more days until the weekend!

Happy New Year!

I wish you all a very happy new year! Hope you all had fun ringing it in last night and don’t have too hard of a time recovering today. Let’s hope for a prosperous and fantastic 2010!

Wishes for 2010

Resolutions.
Those are meant to be broken. Forgotten. Tossed away.

I prefer wishes.

On the eve of 2010, I’d like to make myself a little list of things I wish to achieve next year, with happiness & health always being in the top spot:

1. Continue “working on my fitness.” Do not get lazy.
2. Own a house. Love it. Make it yours.
3. Find something that makes you happy.
4. Raise more money for Autism Speaks than in 2008.
5. Make this blog a priority. Strive to be creative, inspiring & interesting.
6. Learn more recipes.
7. Just learn more. Period.
8. Love without boundaries.
9. See Muse live.
10. Have more adventures: big or small.
11. Continue making memories worth remembering for a lifetime.
12. Visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Have fun welcoming the new year, tonight! Have a blast, drink lots of champagne, get your kisses at midnight but remember to stay safe!

xoxo
