Happy Hump Day: Taylor Kitsch

normal_menshealth2007-4

Taylor Kitsch first caught my attention when he played one of the most beloved characters in Xmen, Gambit. Although I found the latest Xmen movie to be quite the bore, the eye candy throughout the movie was very very nice. Taylor is also on the small screen, where he portrays a high school football star on Friday Night Lights. You’ve probably also seen him in all sorts of catalogs strutting his hot stuff as a model in YM, Seventeen and even Abercrombie and Fitch! Yeah, I’d definitely suffer through a show all about football just to watch him run around (preferably without his shirt on). Let me know if you agree with me when you check out the photos after the jump. ;)

I’ve always loved collecting ideas for inspiration. While I was planning my wedding, I scoured the Internet and had a whole set on Flickr with thousands of photos I had found and subscribed to countless wedding magazines. After the wedding was over, I moved my focus to home decor. I also started a similar set, but have struggled to find the right magazine. I used to love Domino and Blueprint, but both were discontinued. I tried Martha Stewart, but it just didn’t have the edge I was looking for. My hubby has brought me home countless different magazines he thought I would enjoy, but none did “it” for me. But after hearing about Lonny Magazine on one of my many decor blogs, I think I have found “the one.” The magazine just launched last month and covers the world of home decor, fashion and day to day living. Plus, it seems targeted at a younger audience and features bolder design styles. The only downside for me is that it is only available online, which I’m sure is a great feature for others, but I personally like flipping through pages and marking my favorites.

Weekend Highlights

satIMG_4901

On Saturday, the hubs and I went out to Splitsville to celebrate our best friend’s birthday with a little midnight bowling action! We got her a great present, if I may say so myself and had a good time catching up with our closest friends. Unfortunately, now that I am dieting and training, it doesn’t take a lot for me to get very drunk very fast. I learned that on Saturday night in the worst possible way. However, I found that drunken moment most appropriate to discuss the Billy Corgan/Jessica Simpson love affair. Very passionately, it seems. Thank goodness my friends are not cruel enough to record conversations. Definitely a face palm moment.

Now that I have fully recovered and have decided to swear off of shots for a very long time, I hope you all have a great week! But before I go, I want to let you guys know that Melificent now has a fan page on Facebook. If you enjoy my blog, please become a fan by clicking this link – I’m trying to reach 100 fans by the new year!

1. We are under contract!

I’m happy to report that after 6 months of house hunting, we are finally under contract on a beautiful 3/2 home with a 2-car garage and pool (no, that is not the house pictured)! We got the great news yesterday and I haven’t stopped smiling like a magpie ever since. Granted, we still have to go through the inspection, finalize the application for our mortgage and close – but this is still really exciting for us. I’m not going to post any pictures of the house just yet, but I can tell you that it’s wonderful! I can’t wait to start decorating it and making it our own. Expect many more home decor posts from me in the next coming weeks and months. Best part is: I get to share the progression of our first home with all of you on this blog! Squee!

& just because we are one measly day away from Friday, here is a new Melificent mixtape: Happiness is a Warm Mixtape. This mix was inspired from songs that make my heart smile and make me feel squishy. Basically, like an equivalent of a warm and comfy blanket. I hope you all enjoy it and that it carries you through to the weekend with a little more bounce in your step or at least a little more love in your heart.

Happy Hump Day: Melvil Poupaud

Poupaud_Melvil

Decided to mix it up a bit this week by featuring someone that not everyone has heard of. Melvil Poupaud (such an unfortunate name) is a French actor that I discovered when watching the most amazing indie film, Broken English. He was so charming and perfect – loved him! Since then, I spotted him in a “blink and you’ll miss him” role in Speed Racer but he seems to be busy making a whole slew of foreign films. The hubs compared him to to a French Gavin Rossdale and I have to agree – I’m so painfully obvious ;)

Enjoy the new & fresh eye candy and if you haven’t already, check out Broken English!

People I want to cuss.

If you saw The Fantastic Mr. Fox, you saw what I did there.
I like ridiculous meme’s. So you get one today. Enjoy!

The rules:

1. Have NO life. – I am offended by this. I have a life thankyouverymuch. My Internet life is just more fun. So there!
2. Bold the names of guys you’d definitely sleep with.
3. Italicize the names of guys you might after a little persuasion.
4. Leave the guys who don’t do anything for you alone.
5. Put a question mark after the guys you’ve never heard of.
6. Strike the guys you wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.
7. Add three more guys to the list.

Ready? Go!

Weekend Highlights

Saturday brought on the Buzz Bake Sale in West Palm Beach with two of my favorites: Elissa & Roxy. Like I mentioned in the previous post, I was mostly there for both Metric, Our Lady Peace and 30 Seconds to Mars. I left feeling the same. The rest of the bands were god awful – in fact, I don’t know how people can listen to such crappy music. To be fair, I didn’t hear any of the bands on the side stage except for Metric so I can’t count them in the terrible category. But Say Anything, Sick Puppies, The Used and Chevelle made my ears want to bleed. Panic! At the Disco still didn’t win me over (just not my kind of music), but I have to admit that the lead singer’s voice was outrageous. Matisyahu was really great as well, but unfortunately, I just caught the tail end of his performance.

1. Tim Burton's Installment at the MoMA
1. Tim Burton's Installment at the MoMA

Is it now considered cliche to love Tim Burton? How Hot Topic of me. I am, as always, envious of all New York City residents because now they can see this exhibit at the MoMA until April of 2010. The exhibit includes props from his movies, sketches and amazing designs from one of the most creative minds in Hollywood (in my opinion anyways). I’ve begged the hubs to take me on a weekend trip to NYC just so I can hit up this event. Anyone that has gone or is going, please feel me in so I can live vicariously through you!

Christmas Gifts for Foster Children

I know I may not get many comments on this blog, but from my stats, I see that a lot of people are visiting it. So I’d like to extend this opportunity to all of you  to do a good deed for a needy child.

As some of you may or may not know, I work with foster children. Every holiday season, we ask our family and friends to donate Christmas gifts since unfortunately this cost is not in our budget. I have been blown away previous years with the amount of people interested and willing to participate. A couple of years ago, our conference room was just full of amazing gifts – the children’s faces were priceless.

If you are interested in donating a gift to this cause, please leave your email address in the comments and I will email you with the children’s wishlists so you can choose an item.

Thank you!

xoxo
